Well I finally got my car back together since I last made a pass at the track. Last time out, I broke my 3/4 shift rail, best pass on that track visit was 11.39 @ 128mph.

I took the car back last night on the same boost. The only things changed since then were, I switched from the JMF Race manifold to a JMF Drag manifold, I added an LSD, and lowered the tire pressure in the slicks.

I drove the car to the track, made two pulls to check and see what the tune looked like. Got there and put the slicks on, put the tire pressure at 7.5 psi and went up to the line. First burnout was horrible, didnt have anybody helping at the time. Launched on a 5500 rpm two step and the car spun through 3rd while trying to pull the car into the wall. Ended up with a 11.43 @ 128 first pass.

Made a few adjustments, went back and ran 11.06 @ 130mph on the second pass.

Let the car cool off knowing it had more I just needed to drive the car. Made a third pass and went 11.04 @ 115mph missing 4th gear twice ....WTF. That would have been my good run but i couldnt shift :ohdamn:

Fourth pass, started getting a 2nd gear burnout and letting the tires heat. Launched on a 5750 rpm 2-step ... Did a ...

1.81 60ft,
7.35@104 in the 8th
10.99@130 in the 1/4 mile

Made one more pass wanting to back up the 10.99 pass....Checked and lowered tire pressure on each side, raised the 2-step to 6000 rpms.

1.78 60ft
7.27@105 in the 1/8th
10.89 @131mph in the 1/4 mile

This was still on the stock shortblock, hx40, wastegate pressure(no boost controller on the car), and most nterior. I need to get my 60ft down, and put the boost controller on the car. Hopefully next month I can drop it down a couple more tenths.

Here is the link to one of the videos...Im still waiting on the other guy to get his video up. Hopefully you can view this even though its on facebook.

Welcome to Facebook

What was the tire pressure on the last pass. Also what is wastegate pressure on that turbo and about how much does your car weigh?

Last pass was on 7 psi in the slicks, HX40 T3, 24 psi creeping to 27 psi, estimated weight with me in it is 2870 lbs, Full interior from the rear seats forward...

Very well done, puts a lot of hope in the cards I'm playing (FWD 85% stock interior, full weight almost) but a lot of HP and a nice TRE trans with quaife LSD. (haven't been to a real 1/4 mile in a LONG time...we do something a little more questionable around here in the hours of 1 to 4 AM LOL )
*EDIT* I need to change those old pump gas numbers... last dyno was 431 all turbo, 503hp on the laughing gas(mustang dyno both pulls but different days), and i've put more into it since then, so i'm guessing 550'ish on nitrouse, i can't wait to get an HX-35, some M&H D compound 24x8's and hit up KCIR again this spring :)

I've always said i'd be the happiest the day i go to fast for OEM seatbelts and no cage :)

You gotta love those "look the other way tracks"...we had a 1/4 mile named "scribner" which was biult on the abandoned scribner airforce base an hour and a few minutes out and they let anything go unless it was an NHRA points event where there were more "officials" there, but on a friday night "run what you rbung" you could do about anything and i miss that.. And know that they that shut down and i have to drive 3+ hours to KC to get anything more than an 1/8 mile (our new local has been saying they were extending to 1/4 for at least 6 years and nothing has changed so i've given up on them)So with all that, i just don't bother much, i'd rather put a couple hundy down and take some muscle cars from a roll on our "private track" ;) Mainly becuase anyone with a hi-po FWD like in the ranges from where mines at and up and past yours knows we barely hookup till after the 1/8 and make it all up on the big end

Very, very awesome!!! Congrats! Great runs! Also the video worked =)

One question though, Why no front fenders? Is it because of the slicks?

No, the slicks fit fine....I bought the car as a completely stripped shell..I had a black GST and wanted white so I ended up finding this one. The guy was gonna crush the shell and it was in near mint condition. The only problem with it is that he cut the upper radiator support off the car. Which leaves me with no way to get the front bumper or hood on the car, and i didnt have time to get the fenders on it. So this winter the front end is getting finished and Im having my fabricator build me a 10pt cage. Next year I might switch to a 26in tall MT slick, but im undecided on that at the moment.

I put the boost controller on the car tonight, Im gonna test it sometime this week and see if its gonna hold boost and if it does, It will go back to the dyno and im gonna throw some real boost at it. Next month is the next race so I hope to run a bit faster then....

That's amazing. Congrats!

Is there a way you can take pics of your interior, just curious to see what you had when you ran this time.
The video dont work for me as I don't have a facebook, would the video be uploaded somewhere else?

Yep...the other guy that video'd will have some on youtube i believe, He has my 10.99 pass on tape, he is gonna edit the videos then put them up...

The interior is the same as in this pics except I now run sparco seats...

My passenger airbag is gone...I cut the cover off the airbag and reinstalled the cover only so the dash looks factory....The car had a cd player up until about a week ago when I redid some wiring and since then I cant get it to power on LOL. The sound deadening is gone underneath the carpet, on the floor, and some underneath the dash. The ac box was pulled and gutted, and reinstalled but the car still has heat...Stock steering wheel.

And I forgot to mention, My next time out at the track the car will be on Skinnies in the rear...and some new front suspension components...

Those are some good times for a FWD and stock shortblock.

this is pretty damn sick. gives alot of hope to people out there like me with failwheeldrive LOL

I have had two GSX's and had a chance to do this exact setup in either of them and I chose the GST. I like the challenge....

thats honorable man. Mostly everyone inclouding people in these forums would rather pay the little extra to get the awd; inclouding me also to be honest. I just couldnt find any awd dsm's around my area that were under a grand like mine and ran fine. Point isssss, you chose yours and im just learning to live with what i can, but seeing what uve done inspires people like me to keep their failwheeldrives and make them fast. so thank you haha.

Good runs! i think that dyno reads slightly off i would think the car being that light making 570hp would net a good bit higher trap speed.

Yah seems abit off. My car weights 100lbs more dynoed 485fwhp trapping 133mph with the same 60ft. Who knows when it comes to dynos though. Trap speeds don't lie.

Non the less very impressive set-up to the OP and keep up the good work.:thumb:

The track prep was absolutely terrible....The local honda guys gave up after their second pass cause they were heading towards the wall every pass....Cars that run down in the 10.40s were struggling to hit 10.80s...

Just a word of advice on those 26'' slicks you're thinking about getting... DON"T DO IT!! especially the MT ones (unless you get a built trans with a close ratio 2nd to 3rd option) I had M&H 24.5x8.5x15 in the "D" compound and they were awesome but i still spun one on the stock trans all through 2nd.

So the following year i got MT 26x8.5x15 slicks andhated myself for it, the trans was the same and so was the entire setup but not only did i spin them jsut as bad all through 2nd, when i hit third the gap was widened so much by the taller tire that the car completely fell on it's face and really hurt the pull in the big end of the track (not to mention i noticed the MH slicks were more forgiving to an overheat in the burnout box, where the mickey's would get nastly slippery if they got too hot.

You can do what ever you think will help, you but being that i have been there on the same car and trans i figured i'd share my story. Now with a built trans they might be okay with a close ratio 2-3 gears and an LSD, nitrous would probably help to solve the gap and loss in spool on them big slicks too but i wasn't running it back then.

. Also, they rubthe fenders pretty hard onbraking if there's ANY bumps in the shut down lane. I loved the 24.5's and although i'm poor as hell cause of some bad health and upcoming surgeries i need, i still plan on getting some more and either putting a new compressor wheel in my turbo or if i can get the loot together i would love to swap to an hx-35

I ran my 2g on 26x10 for about 2 years on the stock tranny and stock axles pulling 1.6 without a problem .. Inow run a shep tranny because i finally had the money for it,plus it shifts faster at higher rpms ;)

Seems kinda laggy if your falling out of boost between shifts?

Just curious.
