2G “Unlooping” a heater core delete?

All the threads I see are about how to delete or remove heater core. I’m trying to restore mine. Any ideas?
The bottom pipe (inlet) is missing a hose and I believe I see the hose that’s looped but no idea what it’s looped to?

One goes to the water pipe and they other goes to the thermostat housing. I'd get new heater hoses if you can. If it was looped it likely was leaking, so don't be surprised if you hook it back up and your floorboard starts getting wet.

When I remove that loop what’s the replacement loop look like? There’s a hose going to the heater core outlet. I’m assuming that is looped somewhere as well?

Looks like they just looped the heater pipe hose back into the tstat housing and left the other hose on the heater core disconnected going no where. You could probably just unhook the loop from the tstat housing and hook it up to the heater core and the one still on there heater core to the tstat.

The hoses aren't exactly the same though. The one for the lower heater core pipe goes to the coolant pipe and is shorter than the one for the upper heater core pipe that goes to the tstat housing.

I’m gonna assume the heater core is shot and just replace it. But 2GB turbo heater cores are hard to come by.

I’ll just do some other under dash stuff while I’m at it. The wiring for oil pressure and boost gauges was pretty ugly so I’ll take this chance to route them through the firewall properly, along with the power cable for an amplifier. And I’ll also use this chance to replace missing screws for the radio bracket and install the microphone for speaker phone on the head unit. Plus deep cleaning the carpet.
