Ok I have been researching on this for a while and basically got nothing. All i have found is that everyone just wants to replace their heater core or fix it.

I on the other hand i would like to just "plug" it. (if thats the correct wording). stop water from flowing to the heater so it will stop leaking and smoke will stop coming through the vents.

I have no time to take my dash out and just remove the heater core.

I am from Hawaii and really do not need my heater. Anyone got any ideas on how to do this? thanks!

What you are looking to do I beleive is bypass the heater core. If you look at the firewall from underneath the hood you will see where the 2 coolant hoses go into the firewall which connects to the heater core. Basically you "unplug" those lines to the heater core and loop them which means you are bypassing the heater core. This is what I have done and all has been good ever since, that is until winter.

thanks that sounds like exactly what i'm trying to do. do i have to plug those two holes after i take out the two hoses? if so what do i use to do so.

do you mind giving me some tips on what to buy to do this bypass? I've been trying to research on this but seems like everyone just replaces the heater instead of bypassing it. thanks!

To bypass it just take the hoses off the heater core under the hood, buy a new hose and connect one side to the water pipe where the old hose was connected and connect the other side to the fitting on the thermostat housing. And you don't need to plug the heater core with anything as nothing will be running through it. This is how I run it on my car with no problems.

Sorry wrote that on my phone and sent it so didn't know someone replied yet.

The heated water runs into the heater core to transfer heat into your car and once it's done that, it returns to the water source, If I were you I would remove one of the hoses to get the appropriate size (It might be dry rotted anyway) and buy enough hose to connect the inlet (hot or entrance line to return line) that way you wouldn't have to use extra clamps or tubes because if those old hoses break or burst your looking at overheating your engine and wasting a lot later rather than a little now
