Street Build Resurrection of the Red 90 Talon

1990 Eagle Talon TSI trying to save her life from the previous owner and its alot of work but a nice base car. My youngest son, who also races this car has nicknamed her "The Red Baron".

I finally found my AEM Water/Methanol shipping box for the optional nozzles. I haven't used it in a long time but added Boost Juice to the reservoir and am going to give it a try with my Ethanol fuel. I have the largest nozzle, a 1000cc, in it now but have a 500 and a 750cc nozzle I can try. 1000 may deliver too much.
If you wonder where all the spare parts for DSM's are, some 1g stuff may be hiding here......

Share more I too have a nozzle and pump sitting haven’t gotten around to using it and would love to see set up-logged results ect.

My idea is to use it to aid my small 750cc injector that tend to max at 90% duty cycle @ around the 5.5K mark - I limit my rev to 6k.

I was logging and it was active. I didn't have time to look and see if the light came on that shows it is pumping but it was flowing about 56lbs today and knock was diminished but not eliminated. I didn't mess with my map at all, and knock wasn't pulling much. Ecmlink was in the mid 700s, but its only trying to give you an idea. The car felt VERY STRONG at only 30lbs boost to 8k is all. No need to thrash on it more than I need (or want) to. 😎
I think it must have helped, I need to look at the log a lot more, its stupid long but I almost always log. It was USE 2 HANDS fast and I was on the DOT's.

Ok, not really a update on the Meth injection BUT, I went out last night and thought, ya know, I should use the TEST BUTTON to see if it works and remember how I had it set up to KNOW it was activated. My dash has a Green LED in it that I wired in (per instructions) to glow when its ready and glow BRIGHT when its Active. I didn't pay attention to that on my short little pull. When I pressed my TEST button, the system had air in it so IDT it sprayed, even if it said it was active. It finally wanted to kill the motor after a few seconds so it's purged and should be ready for the next hit.
More to come though. I'll be logging.
Pops ✌️

Just a picture of logging the WORLD. I didn't run her hard or under a bunch of boost. I think i WILL turn the boost up tho, it'll take it.😎

7.5k Rpm with 30psi at WOT and 13.4° of timing and less than 2° of knock !!!!!!

Wow 😮 you don’t need boost just more mixture and you can slightly up the timing yielding significantly more - power train exploding power LOL.

Very nice - thanks for sharing

Only 55% injector duty , curious what size they are and if you have any comparison logs of the injector duty values with and without injection, like how much reduction in duty cycle are you getting per injection ?

I think i did the tune on this... if it was my work its still not perfect.

I bet it hit hard Marty!

Marty it looks like you went another 500 rpm or so farther before shifting, and the boost held up during that time, and the airflow line goes off scale so we can't see it. What did the airflow get up to in there?
The knock that you are wanting to get rid of, do you think it would still knock about the same if your eth% was up to more like 70 or 80%?
I might have missed something back a ways, because I thought you were running straight E85. Are you running 55%-60% now, trying to avoid the ethanol gremlins?

It is still the tune we were working with @enriquez2000 👍💯 and thank you, it's not bad at all. The car gets outta town once the turbo lights. 😊

That's pretty good airflow for 30 psi. Definitely needs more boost once that meth is ready.
The Meth is working now. Tested tonight but no log because of other "issues" :(

Well.....first the slave started leaking BAD, creating a clutch issue, THEN....the starter just plain quit. I made it home but killed the motor in the driveway because of the leaking clutch and it refused to turn over then, so it is stuck in the circle drive, AND it rained last night/this morning and I have that VIS hood that has the vent in it so that rain got to the top of the motor. Shouldn't hurt it but i always have it in my carport. :banghead:
Have a Happy Fathers Day!!!!!!
Marty

It sure did 😍
Hell, I didn't even mention the fact that I left my truck windows down, for air, last night and it rained a half inch   Oh well.

I have pics of it rolling thru. It skirted me but still left another 1/2 of rain.

Yuck. Well here, maybe my granddaughter can cheer you up, flying a smart little saucer.
Bowser standing by perfectly chill.
Lill of topic but do you know the specs of what’s inside the saucer - been eyeing lill teany Tiny drones - think their called whoops !?

Curiouse about the cell and motor/prop specs -seems the lill ones have longer flight times .

I want one also but no i don't have any clue on specs yet.

This one doesn't have much for specs really. It's meant to be a toy for kids, but I had almost as much fun with it as my granddaughters did.
This is the exact one. Only $23 still.
One important thing that's not very clear in the directions is which way is up LOL. Because the side with the label and the charge port is the bottom! I think most people would assume that is the top. So they would toss it upside down.
Anyway it's autonomous, you don't have a controller to fly it with. It just makes an attempt to avoid obstacles by using, I guess, proximity sensors that are spread around the rim. So basically what you see Olivia doing in the video is, she puts her hand near it, which sends it off in the other direction, or if you put your hand underneath, that will make it go up.
The directions that come with it says it has "motion sensors" which I don't know much about, but I gather it is a little different than just proximity sensors.

I don't have a shot of the complete paper doc that came with it but I have shots of 2 pages of it. So I can post those.
I notice the overall customer score on Amazon is only like 3.9 or something which is pretty low. I thought it was awesome, just a little learning curve that it needs to be able to drop about 1 to 2 feet after you gently toss it. That sudden drop is sensed and that's what turns on the motors. You don't have the motors already running when you toss it.
Darn it, that video doesn't show launching! Bummer, that's the main learning curve.
I was amazed at the number of crashes that it took without any damage. The plastic cage around it is very resilient.
We were getting around 7 to 9 minutes total flight time on a charge, and a charge took about an hour.

Thanks for sharing- I make my own circuits and write my own code for drones and have been making my prototype smaller each time I make a new version, so curious!! And many apologies OP for the hijack !!

FIC 2150s and the airflow was 56.2 at 7900 with 29.5 lbs of boost 👍
The E I am getting is not 80% yet. I guess maybe the next load will be summer blend. 🤞
I looked at an older log, and it was 58-60 airflow. I really don't think my meth purged all the air out of the line. The next drive, I'll log again. I need a new slave cylinder. It is leaking horribly, but its the original slave so its overdue. It barely got me home.

That is awesome!
I got curious about sensors, since the only proximity sensors I ever used in industry were Hall effect, and I kind of knew those wouldn't do what the kid's drone does.
So I asked google ai a couple of questions about it. The answers I think are really interesting and amazingly specific. Pasted it into a Word docx. Here it is - my 2 questions to it are in Bold and 16 point text. It's 2 pages plus a 3rd blank page. Each page is 16 inches tall (so if it gets mangled you will know it possibly).
Checked it, looks like it came through just like I sent it.

It's kind of interesting that your E was apparently below 70% which is supposedly a common "Winter" version of E85.
But in the official specs for E85 it is stated that it can be as low as 51% and it is still within the spec for “Ethanol Flex-Fuel".
Official, I mean, here it is from the US DOE, E85 Flex Fuel Specification.
It says Ethanol Content vol% can be 51-83.
"E85 and other ethanol-gasoline blends are adjusted seasonally and geographically to ensure proper starting and performance."

Yes.. in colorado we see e60 until summer then we get the good stuff. . If you can find it buy ignite... it makes a ton of difference in boosted set ups
