just got an xtd stage 4 clutch and i am pretty nervous in putting it in.. not sure what to expect.. people say its good but i saw the supra forum and its fake.. . stock PP with 6 puck. . i just got mine today and it looks like the stock with a 6 puck. . what do u guys think.. IS XTD Stage for just that?? a stock PP with a 6 puck??

LOL, when i got my car there was an ACT sticker under the hood so i assumed thats what the clutch was. Once we replaced it , it was nothing but stock. ROFL. the previous owner get me mad since he was such a douche.

also how does that flywheel feel. does it make any differance from the stock?

The stage 4 is a great clutch! It grabs like it should, most of the people with issues with them probably did'nt install them correct and just blamed it on the part and cried its a EBAY part.

Any users of the XTD stage 4 not using an extended slave rod? I miss boost LOL.

I don't have an extended rod, mine works fine. I also launch my car all of the time off a 15 psi studderbox, with drag radials. By launch all of the time i mean 100+ launches. I dont know if these results are typical, i know how to launch a car without dumping the clutch.

No joke. This dude will launch in your driveway if you have the room. :rocks:

Haha, okay, this will only be my 3rd clutch install, second on my dsm. I don't know if I did something wrong when installing my spec stage 3 clutch, but that does thing starts slipping at 12 psi and now 6 psi. I didn't do the clutch fork or pivot ball though, this time I will however. I'm missing boost, got a build motor now and I can't enjoy the boost, sad but true. I probably wont be this week, but next week for sure.

i am thinking of doing the awd drive conversion. my mechanic said we can do it for $500 labor. not bad if you ask me. and see how the clutch holds up in awd baby but in the summer of course.

Wow, that is really cheap for labor, did you find a donor car? I've always wanted to do it but my eclipse is my dd and i haven't fund a cheap donor car.

yeah. found a 96 talon tsi nearby. but idk if i am going to do it. its my DD as well. so i hope its there in the summer. and right now i have to fix my Effing aircon. it messed up again. i just fixed it last week. man it gets me mad. like i tired of fixing that. i would mind if it was something else. since it would be an excuse to upgrade.:hellyeah:. then again i really dont want anymore problems :nono:

Haha i remember back in the day when everyone was running a stage 4 pressure plate and a stage 3 sprung disk. Now everyones running just the stage 4 setup, your all crazy.
Ive had the stage 3 disk and i love it.

I guess it's a hit or miss. I told my buddy with a turbo del sol not to get xtd because I heard of poor reviews from actual people. Trying to save some dough he bought a 6 puck with pressure plate. Sucker slipped like it was going to blow. Switch to act and never looked back. And that is with less then 700 miles of use.

My stage 4 has had a e316g, td06 20g and hx35 Which is my current turbo at 25psi and have still yet to feel it slip.

It's amazing piece for the price, IMO and experience

funny.. maybe wasnt broke in correctly.. or installed correctly.. if its good for an :rolleyes:fwd/awd dsm im pretty sure its more than enough for a :tease: Honda. .

So Guzman, how is it holding up for you a year after install? How many miles have you put on it?

well i sold the car a few months ago but i put around 10k on that clutch. it felt good. the only thing i would say i would have changed is that i should have bought prothane mounts. i felt like i had a ton of wheel hop sometimes taking off in first. but thats me. when the guy who i sold it to first bought it it didnt do that. but he mashes the pedal to take off, im more of a gas saver.. overall its a great clutch. intend to buy it on my new car later on.. when im ready.. its good for the $$$

Would you guys think the 4-puck or 6-puck Stage 4 XTD is the one to go for? Sorry for the slight thread resurrection.

I've installed and run 3 different cars with the "Stage 4" 6 puck unsprung, upgraded pressure plate. And the last one I used their flywheel as well. I kept that car for 2 years and drove it ~ 45k miles. When I sold said car it was going fine. No slips. Just make sure to let break itself in.

Of the 3 cars all were running upgraded turbos. 2 were in the 300 - 350 whp range. All of them saw at least a handful of hard launches at the dragstrip. The last one was running 483 whp and a 20g at 26 psi.

Its a good clutch. Have not really seen any huge failures with them. If you do run an XTD and have it fail please post up pics and such and explain how/when/why it failed.

So it started slipping immediatly after the break-in period basically? Or was your buddy just giving it the beans before it broke in? I'd be willing to bet it wasn't broken in if it was "within 700 miles"

I got this XTD Stage 3 kit before 4 years. Today i'm still driving it. It's a daily drive 1G. (hard launches included)
Soon it will be necessary to change. I had no problems so far with it.

...yea the xtd stg. 4 sprung 6 puck just slipped on me. Today heavy throttle in third passing someone and it let go, the clutch has about 50-100 miles on it. No launches of course. It will still hold up to about 15 psi after that it'll slip. Good I guess im making decent power, bad I have to throw money at a act 2600 and pull the motor again. Mods in profile...

i think you are supposed to put more then 100 miles on the clutch before hard use. its says 500 mile break in.

Never the less, it sounds like something is wrong. No turbo makes enough torque at 15psi for this clutch to slip. I'm interested to see what happened when the clutch comes out.

Op, please measure the step height of the flywheel when you get it apart.
