I have a 91 n/t and the other day i'm putting brake fluid in, i start to pump the brakes and my car starts to die i tried to save it but it stalled it made a high pitched noise while it stalled out also. checked the relays for the fuel pump and the fuel pump (i can hear it turn on) i have no idea what it is, any ideas? Car will not start to this date, the night before this happened the brake pedal all of sudden was going to the floor. I had driven to work and back, then went to basketball practice, got out of practice and the brake pedal was to the floor, did not notice any leaks and just had new pads put on about 2 months ago. I had just put in brake fluid and was pumping brakes when this "stall" happened. Have not been able to start car since that time. Car has never done anything like this, it has been very dependable, started up fine all the time. It's been two weeks since this happened, car still won't turn over - A buddy checked to see if it was getting spark and if there was a problem with the timing belt, but both checked out fine - he thought it might be a relay or fuel pump problem - fuel pump is coming on, you can hear it when you put the key in "on" position. Car does back fire when you first try to start it. Any ideas what the problem could be?
