Why would it run without the filter?

It's weird if I let my car warm up on hotelier on my afc1 then switch it over to Karnak it idles perfect the needles at 1000. Any one else know why and if I try to first start it on karmen the idle will jump up and down then settle out at like 750.

While I think I might know what you meant to type, looking up the definitions of those words was more fun than trying to guess what you meant and then answer it.

But seriously, you have a Karman sensor, so you should probably not try to set the SAFC for a sensor that functions in a completely different way. Just saying.

Oh, and replace the air filter before your turbo ingests something other than air.

I was thinking that "hotelier" was a fancy way of saying "valet mode" on the assumption that said valet worked for the Hyatt or some-such.

I was also thinking that "Karnak" referred to the Johnny Carson character, even though I believe that Carson used Cs, instead of Ks.

Hence, I was of no use at all and probably shouldn't have posted even now.

A mass air flow has a wire it that heats up to 390 degrees , when passes over it to cool the wire down ,it heats it self back to 390 degrees that is how it measures air coming into the engine.it gets feed back from the o2 sensor. if one is off everything is off. there are other sensors that factor into this like the coolant temp sensor. clean the air filter or buy a new one.

Not on any DSM I've ever seen. You need to do a little research on the Kármán Vortex Mass Airflow metering system.

I've been running mine without a filter for over 7k miles now.

I wouldn't recommend it but it can be done.

Do not rationalize that. You should NEVER run without an air filter. If you are so broke you cannot buy a new filter, you should rubber band a sock for temp use.

Your ar will run faster and louder for short time then probably start lifter ticking eventually as the oil gets gummed up with micro particles.
