I honestly have no clue what to do. I got this car in 2010 and ive been trying to get it running compleatly. I at least got it to sit and idle but when i push in the clutch and shift it into first it shakes and dies, yet it has at least moved a foot from were i had it once. Right now yes the car is modded. Compleatly new engine, Air Filter, MAFT that isnt wired all the way or corectly, GReddy BOV, and other goodies under the hood. He also added a Boost Gauge, and a Fuel Gauge to tell if its rich or lea fuel and wires for a SAFC but its not there. Here are the pictures if the engine bay.

If anyone knows what to do please help. I actually need the car running soon. Thank you :dsm:

If it has a MAFT that isn't wired completely/correctly and wired for a SAFC but its not installed, then how is the the car wired for air metering? You need an airflow meter of some sort for the car to run. Having said that, you are most likely looking at a vacuum leak problem. I bet you are getting un-metered air from somewhere (vacuum leak).

Yes unmetered air aka improperly wired maft. Holey 2002 blue wire loom batman

If it is wired for a SAFC and its not plugged in, than that means there is nothing completing the circuit going to you mas air flow sensor. My brothers cars safc stopped working, it said it was getting no airflow reading so i took a wire with alligator clips and bridged it where it was cut for the safc, took out the safc and tossed in my dsm link to see what was going on and it ran like a champ.

SSo how do i go about fixing this? Im no good with electrical on cars so could i have a step by step guide on how to fix it this? I usualy need pics to help me do it right cause i miss read things often by mistake.

Do you have any local friends with a 1g? You could look at their wiring and then just copy theirs (since you said you need a visual aid).

If not, I would look up a wiring diagram, and then just rewire it properly. I'll link a diagram later, i'm on my phone right now.

Another theory I have is that your car hates all the cheap, fugly (can I say that?), blue wire loom, and won't run until you take it off and treat her properly.

Im the onlt person in my town with a 1g, and i have taken it off last night so i can find were i need to put that white wire from the MAFT.

the MAFt's white wire will tap into your CAS. When I get home later I can get some pix of what your looking for. I have a GM maf in my 1g. If you are not decent with electrical wiring you may have bit off more than you can chew with that car. Either that, or you will learn wiring real fast.

You need to get that MAF hooked up since that white wire is your RPM signal wire that taps the CAS. The SAFC can be routed around for a short term fix. If you have an EPROM why not just get it chipped and socketed and do away with the safc anyway? I have a chip in mine and it runs like a champ. Soon to have a dual image chip in there.

My first thought when looking at the engine bay was holy cluster fk batman. Try to hide some of those wires. People can talk about the loom all they want, but if you want to keep it do so, but try to hide it a bit better and be less of an eye sore about it. The blue dryer ducting for an intake tube is a lil fugly too IMHO. It looks like who ever you bought the car from was 16-18 and in highschool and tried to play the pimp my ride home edition with a budget of like 100 bux. I would gut 90% of that engine bay and start over. But thats just me, and I know not everyone can exactly afford to that. But thats my thought.

If I were you, I would go to the junk yars and get a stock maf and intake tube. Put everything back to stock and start there. Just connect the two airflow wires that were going to the safc.

As stated, the airflow wires in the engine harness at the ecu will need to be hooked back together. Get under the dash and unbolt the ecu. It is behind the radio. You will then see where the safc harness is connected to the harness. Unhook everything from the harness and take all the bare wires. There will be an orange and pink wire connected to a green wire on each side of the harness. cut the orange and pink wires off and connect those 2 sides of the wire to each other. As others have said, throw that dryer vent hose in the trash and get a stock intake pipe and make an adapter for your filter.

I agree Crawlin, it dose look bad and the pics would be very awesom,. I know wiring expernce but not with cars, i usually do audio for other people and thats it, and i even agree the blue looks bad and im 17 it needs to be reorganized so i can tell what wire goes to what. And yes the car itself came like that so I dont mind getting into more than i can chew i love this car to death.

and bryanwheat, the SAFC's cables are allready hooked up to the ECU, i took it out when i first got the car to know the condition of it, and i plan to get a new intake pipe when i get the money, im actuly looking for a job but if i can somehow get it fixed in a cheep way as a way to get by so i can get the money for a new pipe itll be great.

I will be out tomorrow putting my new AFPR in, so I will snap a few pix off in the morning. It was just to late when I got home tonight to start trying to get pix.

That should be what you need. Its the smallest of the black lines off the CAS. You tap the white wire into that for the signal
