Which/What gauges should I get? [Merged 12-6]

Hi I have a 98 gsx and I am going to be buying new autometer ultra lite gauges and I was wondering what gauges are the most important. I already have a cheap vdo boost gauge and some no name air/fuel gauge which seems to want to work when it wants to. Anyway, I know I need a boost gauge and air/fuel ratio gauge, but what is the most recommended third gauge? I hear the EGT is, but is it really worth the $150? Volts gauge? Please tell me your opinion. Thanks :thumb:

First of all, what do you mean a cheap VDO boost guage. I have a VDO and it reads perfectly. Second, Air/Fuel guages aren't that usefull. Especially if they don't work. Get an EGT guage. They are very worth the money. Volts aren't necessary. Don't get guages just to get guages. I have vac./boost, EGT, and oil temp. Good luck. :talon: :thumb:

Boost & A/F...

I'll likely add an egt down the road... maybe oil pressure....

No not entirely. They still show you where you're running at.

boost, a/f, egt, fuel press

oil press/volt/temp/oil press and i got boost for when i get a turbo
want a egt

Boost, EGT, Oil temp, Fuel press, oil press, A/F all Defi baby!!

Boost, a/f, egt, and water temp.
None of which are mounted on the a-pillar. :barf: I'm going to have to get creative for mounting the other gauges when I get them.

Boost, egt, oil pressure on my triple piller, and fuel pressure and water temp on my custom ash tray pod, then i have my apexii tt the tells a/f in actual numbers, o2 volts, batt, all the things i need, soon to have a pocket logger hanging from my vents

boost, oil pressure, cylinder head temp(yeah that's right cylinder head temp, it's kinda of an old school thing), and a fuel pressure.

Personally I can't stand a car without an oil temperature gauge. I used to fly piston engine airplanes and they all had an oil-temp gauge. It's great for telling you when it's OK to step on it (it takes surprisingly long to reach engine normal operating temp) plus it gives you a great view as to what your engine is doing.

My oil-temp gauge on my eclipse gave me a week's notice that my head gasket had gone; it was long before the normal temp gauge showed anything abnormal.

What brand do you use? Lookin for indiglo backlit blue...not too expensive. How are autometer? They seem to be a good brand...
