Which/What gauges should I get? [Merged 12-6]

I recently got an autometer vac/boost and a A/F, gauges.
I got the cobalt series and I love how they look at night.

get some apexi, they are great and look alsome too LOL but the cost some money, i put the money down for them and they look and work great

If you going to be doing some serious tuning and you have the money look at Defi guages. They are badass because not only do they act as guages but they will also log data for you.

If you go with autometer get the pro-comp series EGT without a probe and get a racing probe from TRE or somewhere.

Great site! - Thanx - but couldn't find an A-Pillar pod for 2inch diameter gauges - I'm liking those Isspro's - they are showing the Isspros as 2/16 @

http://www.egauges.com/vdo_main.asp

and 2" everywhere else... I emailed 'em - probably just a data error.

http://autometer.com/hp/

is nice too... but lloks like Autometer has quit offering FULL gauge pillars for 1'g's - they just offer the pods.

does autometer, or any other companies actually make gauges that have the orangeish lights to them, because i plan on keeping my dash stock and i would like to find a set of gauges that will match stock illumination...i cant really find any pics of gauges in the dark

It's all about the bulbs. I have autometer pro-comps and I went to autozone and bought one of those sets of "hyper white" rice bulbs for your car. Well they work great, I can see my guages at night clear as day now.

If you actually want a real autometer, I suggest the G-Tech. I have never seen the point of any gauges except for boost and then computers like SFAC + GTech, I think they look kind of ricey, especially when you have a long pillar f them :(

I spent a lot of time looking at gauges, trying to find a boost and EGT pair that not only matched each other, but also looked as much as possible like the stock gauges. (These are in the main bezel, so they are near the stock gauges.) I finally decided on VDO. The needle is the closest to stock and with the right bulbs it's a very good match.

WTF? There are two gauges that are a must have. 1. EGT and 2. Boost. If you don't have those then you don't belong anywhere near a turbocharged DSM. Guages are not rice unless you put them on a car that does not need them. If you don't like the pillar mount get a guage bezel. As for the GTech that is a bench racers right hand tool. I hate that thing because you get people who say they have run 12s on a GTech and then can't understand why they run 13s at the track. Yes the new model Gtech is nice but it is nothing more than a toy.

I vote for Apex-i gauges. I love the color blue mine light up at night, its so damn pretty and easy to read. They are alot pricier than others, but I think you wont be dissapointed.

Me too-- I went with Isspro, as someone above mentioned that they were looking at, and they're pretty darn close. I have a pic in my gallery of the IC bezel install of the Isspro boost and EGT. I hooked up the TRE probe to the Isspro EGT gauge and it works great. The only thing with these gauges is that the needle is the same color as the numbers, not that reddish color. Although they now do have some gauges with a red pointer, but not all. It's not a big deal to me, though.

I've got the Autometer Carbon Fiber Boost gauge, and same with Air Fuel. they look nice and sporty, plus the backlight is orange, as to match the interior orange.

EGT gauge? pardon my stupidness, but what is that?

I LOVE my GReddy gauges...dead sexy, and are very accurate...the only drawback to them...PRICE...man oh man they cost me an arm and a leg, and heck I work in the Speedshop industry...

I am currently running an A/F, Boost, EGT and oil pressure in my 1G...

A EGT Gauge is a gauge that measures Exhaust Temperatures.

gtech a toy? my gtech is DEAD on with my times at the track.. the trap speed is a little off on my gtech though, its usually a tad higher, but the ET's are pretty much dead on( several 1/100ths difference, big deal)..

im looking to buy a EGT gauge and possibly a new boost gauge to match. my current boost gauge is a AC racing brand gauge, but they dont make the style i have anymore and i need to get more gauges now. Im looking for something with a bright blue indiglo backlight similar to reverse indiglo dash gauges. anyone know a brand like that that isnt like 200$ a gauge
