Which DEI turbo blanket for FP30 turbine housing?

^^^ Exactly, unless the housing is too big, it would be perfect...
On the other hand, making a simple heat shield around turbine housing lowered my coolant temps about 4-5 degrees/highway, in the summer/...

You can see in this photo below, I had actually a piece of heat insulating material on the heat shield too. If interested, just get a piece of SS steel with appropriate width and wrap it around the turbine. 2 long bolts hold it on both sides, under the manifol/turbo flange..

I was going to go with the T3 turbo blanket version. Would it matter you think?
This is what i'll be running. I know it's a bit pricey but nothing else can match it.

Design Engineering DEI 010141 - DEI T3 Turbo Titanium Heat Shield Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com

A quote from Buschur.

DEI just released a new turbo blanket. I've seen a lot of these through the years and they were all junk to be honest. Hard to install, looked like crap, couldn't really re-use them after removing them once etc. This new product from DEI is just flat out SWEET! It is perfectly formed and sewn to fit the T3 housings. The material is actually made of Lava rock and there is an inner padding/insulation that is made of silica and has a temperature rating of 2,000 degrees F. The turbo blanket has three heavy duty metal bosses embedded in the material so you can safety wire the blanket to the turbo. The install, seriously took me 3 minutes, including twisting the SS wire with the safety wire pliers. I did the dyno pull, Trent stood in front of the car with the laser heat gun. Immediately following the pull he took a temperature reading of the turbine housing, 693 degrees F. The turbine housing, obviously at that temperature was so hot it instantly burns you. I worked on the car that hot. Right after it was installed I ran the car again, identical dyno run. Trent took another temperature reading and at the end of the pull the outside of the blanket was only 260 degrees. That's a drop of 433 degrees. After a few minutes of Trent and I talking about the results he happened to hit it again, the temp had already dropped to 130 degrees. I told him, "If that's right I should be able to touch it and not get burnt." I took the plunge, it was correct. I could lay my hand on the blanket no problem.

The only word of caution with the heat blankets is they are to be mainly used with top mount turbos. Reason being is if you leak any oil it can collet into the blanket and potentially cause a fire. If you are sure you don't have any leaks, I think it would be *safer* to run but it should still be checked.

Chris, I would say to contact Punishment Racing and see what they say. I thought they only had the small and large blanket though.

Chris - Any T3 blanket should fit the FP30 turbine housing pretty well, but I'm pretty sure you'll need to trim it a bit for the wastegate port. Also, it's a good idea to regularly inspect the blanket to make sure oil isn't accumulating in it. I would hate to see anyone have an engine bay fire due to a blanket full of oil.

Another option aside from the super-pricey DEI blanket, is the Thermo-Tec 15003. I don't know how it compares from a performance standpoint, but it's a trim-to-fit piece, so it might be better suited for an FP30 housing. Nevertheless, I've never used a blanket, so I really can't give anymore advice or insight.
