ok i am going to get a new clutch for my car. i was wandering which one i should go with. i was thinking of the act 2100. Dont think i want the 2600 because it is a daily driven car and will only go to the track a couple times a year. if there are some other brands you all would suggest let me know. i want a good streetable clutch for a cheap budget.

Thanks to everyone for your help . I will be pulling the tranny this weekend (hopefully) to confirm the clutch is the problem, then I'll be ordering next week. From the looks of it, there is hope that I will have enough money to get an ACT 2600.

Good luck on the install...:thumb: I didn't put mine in, but do most install kits come w/ a new pivot ball and fork? I usually see and hear to change those out when you put a higher pressure plate cluth in, but I could be wrong? Someone want to clarify? Thanks, but I haven't heard it mentioned, so I wanted to make sure? ;)

Thanks for mentioning that, clipsit. I know that I should replace the throw out bearing and resurface / replace the flywheel. But beyond that I don't know. Could someone shed light on that?

Nope, they don't come with that. Buy them from the dealer or one of the vendors. I recommend JNZTuning.com

I'm using ACT2600 /street disk with RRE lightened stock flywheel. This is my 2nd time with this setup. Very satisfied and no problems. It's not stiff if adjusted properly. If you have it where it grabs right at the top, it might be difficult to drive.

Just be sure to tork flywheel with locktight, make sure your clutch fork moves all the way each way smothley. Grese works good all over the pivit ball, clutch fork and TOB. You should get instructions for your clutch kit if it is name brand. Also make sure you tork your pressure plate down to spec so it engages properley.

Pulled the clutch yesterday - geez was it bad. I can post pics if anyone wants to see. Anyways, the car is parked until I get my new clutch (I'll be ordering it tomorrow).

4g63t - thanks for the pointers.

BTW - if you think you're decent at identifying flywheels, go over to this thread and help me figure out what flywheel I have - http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=246350

Glad to help, unfortionitley I have done my tranny about 15 times this season. Good Luck!
I guess you would be the one to ask - is it easier to pull the motor or the tranny to get to the clutch?
Kinda too late for me, but it would be nice to know for future reference.

Hey so i got quoted at 2 different shops and they gave me the same price for the products and installation, now i just need help deciding which one to get? Also let me know if this is over priced and if you know where i could get a better price! thanks

xceddy stage 2 - $1100
ACT2100- $1000

I know the ACT was quoted w/ flywheel and im pretty sure but not completly sure that the xceddy was quoted with the flywheel to

let me know what yall choose and why thanks :thumb:

This is probably better suited in another thread, but here goes.

www.englishracing.net He is the only one you need to talk to. He can match anyone's price on the clutch and Lucas is pretty strong on his prices as well. He did my clutch same day and had me back on the road. Being that it is a bit of a drive for you, ya might want to get ahold of him and see if he could do yours in the same day.

Well I made a 2 hour trip today out of town and my clutch decided to take a shit on me. So I had to get someone to bring a truck and trailer to haul it back. At first it starting slipping bad in 4th and 5th and then in other gears until it went completely out. I have a ACT 2100 or i should say had. Everything in my profile is current except i should have a front mount on it by this weekend and then time to tune but I need a clutch first. So should I go with the 2600 this time or the 2900? Should I get a solid or sprung and 4 puck, 6 puck or the street disk? Whats the main difference in them, what do i need for my power range. Im looking to get to around the 300-320 range with my evo 3 and then later go to a 20g or bigger. This is mostly a daily driven street car but like to play from time to time and go to the track once or twice a month. Need to know what to get so I can get it ordered asap cause Im fixin to do a tranny swap also

^^^Agreed. After my 2100 gave out I got the 2600 with street disc. The pedal effort is stiffer but I love the way it grabs hard but w/out chatter and I can still slip it when needed. It will easily handle the power levels you have planned. If for some reason you decide you want a puck type disc get a sprung 6 puck. Some guys are using that with a 2100 pressure plate with good results.

My cars awd and is hardly ever driven and I already have a 2100 on the car so I jus wanted to get a new disk.

a 6 puck sprung disk
act disk
sbr disk

I don't kno which one to get

If you plan to take it easy, get a street disc. I bought an ACT 2100 with a sprung 6 puck clutch 2 days ago, it'll be going in my car end of May after I get a ACT flywheel and other stuff.

If you can live with the slight chatter and noise get the sprung 6 puck - it will hold more torque than a 2600 with a street disc.

There is a thread on here about a revised SBR clutch disc - you make your decision on that one.

but what about the puck clutches bein very bad on the tranny is that true?

The unsprung hub discs, yes, they are. The sprung hub discs are not as bad as the unsprung ones. From all the reviews I've read if you can live with the slight chatter and noise, you'll be fine, but I won't be able to give an opinion on it until I get it in my car next month.

Hey guys, as some of you may know, my stock clutch is starting to slip and I am in the market for a new clutch setup. I plan on getting this kit from ExtremePSI:
http://www.extremepsi.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=18329&cat=458&page=1

It is the 2100 with the street disc and the Fidanza lightened Flywheel. In the near future I plan on upgrading to an EvoIII16g with all the supporting mods. Hoping to get 300whp out of the EvoIII16g. I drag race it every so often so I would like it to hold up for some street/strip action. I just want to know if this clutch kit^^^ will hold the 300whp on the EvoIII16g. Thanks a lot:thumb:

I would personally recommend something a little stronger. I had a 2100 on my FWD with a small 16G and it lasted about 30K miles. That's not horrible but I never raced my car either.

I have the 2600 with my EVO 3 now. It is kind of stiff but I like the way it grabs.
