Can you post pictures of the other side? Maybe someone knows what it is but has only seen it from the plug/outside angle (with the outer shell on it).

what car do you have there is nothin in your profile, too me it looks like a relay without the top so that means it could be anything really.

either that relay or possibly the sensor that goes in the bottom of the coolant overflow tank.

I believe the coolant overflow sensor is just a 2 prong plug, not 4 like the picture.
