What's the hottest your coolant temp has ever gotten?

260+ when unknown to me I had a small coolant leak at the nylon drain bolt on my Koyo... driving from GA to OK, made it half way across AL and then noticed my temps going up, checked Link and !!! pulled over at the first chance but it was already to late, by the time I got ot the parking lot and shut her down she was around 263 and climbing. Not even enough coolant left to circulate!

Result was a warped head. Just out of spec I think it was .018, factory manuale shows the limit is .015. Which ended up blowing the HG. Got home fine on it though, just had to buy a couple galons of water and turn around.. really pissed me off. All good now though after having the head resurfaced, new composite OEM HG and ARPs.

I had the stock gauge almost pegged while driving through the mountains a couple weeks ago. Thermostat was stuck and the radiator cap was shot so most of the coolant boiled out (the radiator light never came on either). I coasted along in neutral down a grade to try and keep it cool, but it wouldn't get up the next hill w/o overheating, so I had to hitchhike to my destination to get a truck and trailer.

Good times in a DSM :)

wow those are some high temps! My car has never gotten above 190*. Usually sits around 160-170 no matter idling or making passes. I also don't drive the car during the day much and never in the summer.

180-210 average 220 when stuck in traffic

Question: what's the min temp value for closed loop operation? 186?

The ECU will not update long term fuel trim values (called "learn mode" in the first post of this thread) under at least the following conditions:

2G: coolant < 179F, intake >= 133F, baro < 22.9 inHg, baro > 31.6 inHg
1G: coolant < 190F, intake >= 123F, baro < 22.9 inHg, baro > 31.6 inHg

That is per Tom Dorris of ECMTuning.
