Whats the craziest thing you got pulled over for?

Ok so I'm cruising to dennys last night around 10:30pm, and I pass right by a cop, who then makes a right and gets right behind me, living in California I figure he is gonna pull me over for my exhaust... so I come to a red light then stop, then as soon as it turns green he lights me up, I'm thinking in my head (Here comes the fix-it ticket for modified muffler or something like that), then he says I quote: The reason i stopped you was because your rear middle brake light is out, I reply: Well sir, thats a nonfunctional reflector piece that comes stock like that on all 95-99 eclipse, He then says: No I'm positive that it is a brake light and I'm not gonna give you a ticket this time but you're gonna get pulled over again if you do not get it fixed... and now I'm in awe and can't believe this is happening but long story short, he lets me go and i get on dsmtuners.com and ask my fellow DSM'ers, what should i do?

A. Go to the Police Station and file a complaint.

B. Just brush it off, and take no regard to it.

C. Go to the police station and ask them what to do.

D. Any suggestions from anyone here.

P.S; the only good/weird thing is that he didn't even mention my APEXi Turboback...

Yeah that was a little bogus for a cop.. but some of them know it all.. you know what I mean. if I were you I would just brush it off and dont make a mountain out of a mole hill. because as soon as you start making a stink about it your vulnerable to all the "fix-It" tickets you were talking about. Unless that same cop pulls you over again or you get a ticket for it. i would not sweat it.

I didn't write his entire conversation, but he said the middle piece between the left and right tail light...

Ah yes, the inside one we all remove on the 97-99 turbo Eclipse so we can actually SEE out the back window.

Doesn't your car have the thrid brakelight in the rear window? Is it working? If the car was equipt with a 3rd brakelight and it's NOT working, that is a violation the Cop can ticket you for.

Fix or replace the cars 3rd brakelight IN THE WINDOW. As long as you have a functioning 3rd brakelight he can't give you a ticket for "a 3rd Brakelight Being Out"

Just so you all know FEDERAL law mandates all vehicles 94 and new are required to have a third break light. I know it might be a pain to see but even with the factory 97-99 high turbo spoiler there should have been a third break light some where. On the low 3 pice spoiler its built in. Good luck in the future.

If he was refering to th center tail light section just blow it off and if you get ticked again take the ticket. Then take pics of your car with the break lights (to show all three break lights work) on and take the center light out and go to court with it and you will get it trown out.

Edit: Or take it to the police sation, as for most cases a taillight ticket is a non-moving violation.

Also as having been a police officer at some point, he was probably using that as "PC" (probabe cause) to pull you over to look around for ilegal activity, ie: drugs, guns, warants, suspended liscence. Just so you know some thing like 80% of
drug busts come from normal every day trafic stops.

First of all, is your third brake light working? It's possible it isn't, which is why he pulled you over as he did not see a third one. Then it's possible he mistaken the center piece as the 3rd one since it looks like one.

Ah you spoiled my train of thought. The reason the thing on the Talon hatch is called a spoiler is because it spoils my view. When the brake light breaks I will replace it with a window mounted unit but right now I'm broke.

Yea, take that reflector panel out, goto the police station and ask them: "Do you see any sort of electrical connections in here that supposed to have a light socket for a brake light bulb?"

Well there was no ticket, so i would just brush it off and go about your business, if he would have tried to give you a ticket, then that would be a major complaint. So dont worry about and and foget about it.

What's funny is he probably thought he was gonna write you a ticket until you told him that it isn't a brake light, then he just played it off like a tough guy and "gave you a warning" .

My father-in-law got a ticket for driving their olds aurora with the foglights on, he went to court and the judge threw it out and chewed out the cop, that never happens but it's nice to see the cop that was a jerk to two old people driving around town get what's coming to him.

Yes they did but they were not Federally Mandated untill the 94 model year.

I got pulled over for my license plate lights not being bright enough. On top of that he said my car was too low, the body cant be more than 4" from stock. So i told him it was a 1.75" drop. He told me i have to account for my wheels and tires. I told him they were stock wheels with bigger tires.

He then told me he could get me for my exhaust and my gauges and then asked what they were for. When i got to the boost gauge he told me he could get me for putting a turbo on the car. I laughed! He then asked if i had an intake and i told him i dont know I barely open he hood. Haha. He told me not to BS him because he owned a 89 civic and knows everything about JDM. Thats when i gave up and said sorry.

After bashing my car for 5 minutes on what he "could" get me for, he looked at my shocker sticker and said "i like that", then got in his car, did a little squirlly burnout, and left. I was confused to all extent.

Anyone else have any crazy stories?

I got pulled over when I was already parked in a public parking lot and I asked him if I was doing anything wrong and he said no, but still wanted to see my license and registration.... I don't get cops sometimes.

pulled over for going 35 in a 25. and then he said your lucky son i should be giving you tickets for; no front liscence plate, smoked markers and tail lights, testpipe, smoked liscence plate cover on rear, window tint, and HID's? wtf? but i didnt get a ticket he just told me to slow down...

I got pulled over and the cop told me my exhaust was too loud, then he told me to rev it. So I did, and he just said, nevermind and left.
