So if I bought a 96 GS-T running good condition all that, and I bought a 95 GSX shell(no motor, trans, ECU or Transfer case but rear diff and drive line are still there) Is it possible to just drop the engine, trans transfer case and ecu from the gst into the gsx? How long/hard would it be?

I'm fairly new to this stuff but I have a friend teaching me how to do a lot of things and hes highly knowledgeable. He just tends to overplay things a bit so I decided to ask you guys first. LOL

Thanks,
Nick

Yes it will drop right in assuming you also find a matching 95-96 transfer case as well to correctly combine the proper gear ratios of the 95-96 t-case to the rearend.

would the transfer case out of the gst work for the gsx? seeing as the gst is 96 and the gsx is 95?

GST's don't have transfer cases, only awd cars do.

O... Where would I get a transfer case? How much would it cost?

You can find transfer cases easily on the classifieds here on tuners, dsmsource.com, ebay, or craigslist.

You will need a 95-96 transfer case and gsx transmission. I would put the GSX stuff into the GST body to make things easier. Nothing different about the ECUs, except the 95 will probably be EPROM for dsmlink.

the Gs-t transmission wouldn't work? and Isn't it a lot of work to convert a gst to a awd gsx rear?

There is no output shaft on a FWD transmission for the transfer case.

Yes, it is a good bit of work to do the AWD conversion, and it requires some fabrication/welding.

You'd be better off pulling the longblock from the GST, buying an AWD transmission and transfer case ('95-'96 variety), and putting that in. Then just transfer over the ECU from the GST.
