well i just purchased a 1999 Eclipse GST ! i absolutley love it.. i have put a new timing belt, changed the air filter(because it was all nasty) and new wires and new coils.

im needing to know now whats the best mods for this thing ? i have heard from the previous ownder theirs a way of rerouting the vacuum lines somehow to get a bit more boost out of it, is that true ?

also is their anything i can change up or switch around on the car to get more power ?

and do these cars have like a Intake Manifold Runner Control system ? it seems like it pulls like a raped ape down low but uptop starts to just not pull as hard..just seems to to kinda slow down a bit past 5k rpms ...

if anyone can answer all my questions i would greatly apprectiate it.

If you think it pulls like a raped ape with a t25 wait until you get a real turbo on it. Check out the lovely and informative tech section. It will yield a wealth of great information. Also check out VFAQ Site - Visual Frequently Answered Questions. Between the 2 it will answer 95% of your questions. Congrats on getting your DSM and welcome to the community. I hope you have your tools ready.

The stock t25 turbo is good up to 5k, after that it just falls on its face. As for mods a few bolt-ons such as intake, exhaust, manual boost controller, and a front mount intercooler will help and you will notice a difference. If that still doesn't cut it, you can always get the infamous evo316g upgrade turbo, it is a real good street turbo with good spool yet it still kicks ass up top and holds boost solid.

ok well how much horsepower can these bottom ends hold ? and can someone send me other links to good products for this car so i can start ordering my parts LOL... seriously ! and can i get the front mount intercooler, intake, exhuast and manual boost controller without a tune ?

thanks people for the comments.. i do not know anything about how to get these cars beefed up.. im used to having my mustang... of course it was pushing 600hp so thats what i was used too..

Look at the Vendor section of this site for parts. And the Tech sections upgrade path.

What do you want to do with this car? What are you're eventual goals? What kind of budget do you have? Is this your DD? Are you looking for low end torque or top end power?

We need more information before we can start just randomly recommending parts. If I were you, I'd start reading a lot of what's on hear to get an idea what you want to do. You have a lot of research ahead of you.

The bottom is good for up to 400hp. Like stated above, if your goal is to make higher than 400hp then a different turbo will be needed as well as new forged internals. What are your hp goals ?

Even with a 16g my Gst loses uptop alittle, maybe a new manifold/ throttle body would help that, What I have one of each. I was say go for a 16g, there fun a defintally more than enough to get you introuble on the street. You will be very surprised with the increase from one, also look into the fuel mods, you can never go wrong with them.

can someone post a link for the 16g turbo ... and im guessing the car will need to be tuned for it as well right ?

I was told this a long time ago and it is so true that it isnt even funny...the best mod for a DSM is buying a daily driver. I highly recommend it :)

The stock bottom end had been proven to hold up in cars with over 500whp. The question is how long will it last...no motor is gonna last forever. Good luck

K&N filtercharger, upper intercooler pipe, exhaust, fuel pump, and a quality strut/spring combo (or coilovers if you can afford them) SS brake lines and some quality pads. You'll pretty much have every base covered and can then step up your game from there.

Yea... lets put a FMIC on a t25....way overkill. Really guy..come on search, its not hard.

FYI a friend of mine has a 97 tsi awd, (chicken_patty) on this forum, never had a fmic when i used to run him with my old gst and i would pull a car on him. Ever since he put a fmic he pulled on me 2 cars with no other mods done. Also he did not have a huge fmic, it was a small street core. Before you start trying to insult people do some research yourself or testing.
Obviously i am recommending him a front mount cause it was proven effective, not cause i think it would be better. FTW... Have a good day sir.

Holy cow! Did you read anything on this site all day?WTF :beatentodeath:

+1: I found another stick let me help:beatentodeath:

Do some research before you ask. This site has everything you need to know if you just search. Welcome to the DSM community but you have alot to learn.

On my GST my first set of mods were:
-Intake (generic ebay with a K&N filter purchased seperately)
-3" exhaust (SSAC)
-Megan cat eliminating DP
-Megan O2 (recirc)
-Dave brode UICP w/ 1g bov
-walbro 190
-Logger

The first thing I would do is to purchase a uicp that can support a new bov as the 2g one leaks even at low boost levels. Then you can work on opening up the intake and exhaust tracts. After this I would address the future fuel needs of your motor with a walbro 190 (you can get a 255 but count on having to get a afpr which will add alot to the cost) and then just go down a list of mods that you like. After you have all of the supporting mods (ESPECIALLY larger injectors and something to tune with such as afc/dsmlink/etc.), you can switch over to a larger turbo if you would like.

Most important thing to know though: keep up with your car's maintenance more than anything else. Do the timing belt/BS belt and all of the associated pulleys. Fix its leaks and generally just take care of the car if you want it to last.

Good luck!

Ha i have seen a number of threads where you have given incorrect information. If you just search a little on here you will find almost everyone agrees you do not need a front mount on a t25. Just search a little... fmic on a t25?

Oh and hey another...

and wait...one more just for ya

Good day sir

I agree. No front mount needed for t25. Your money will be better spent on a new turbo. Id rather run a 16g on a otherwise stock setup then run a t25 with a full front mount and all hard pipes. Hey does anyone have another stick to lend me? ;)
