Whats Parts Will Swap Over From My 1g 7 Bolt to 6 Bolt?

The title sums it up, going from 1g 7bolt to 6 bolt. What parts can I keep since the 1g 7 was just rebuilt. Talking parts like timing stuff, timing lower cover, water pump etc, you know, the small things.

Youll need a new tstat housing, waterpipe, lower radiator hose, intake manifold, maybe throttle body, and thats probably it. Anybody think of anything else?

The head bolt holes will need reamed out to take the 12mm bolts/studs of the 6 bolt.

The timing belt, but the auto tensioner will not, Not sure about the tenstioner and idler pulleys.

The intake manifold might be the same 6 or 7 bolt 1g..I know some folks use the 1g 7 bolt head on the 2g..It does have the large intake ports like the 6 bolt(snowboarder)..But like Bogus said the studs are different..

Little stuff like boost piping, interior, that stuff is all the same..When I think little stuff thats what I think of..

Nope, I didn't do that. I had a full 1g 7 bolt setup with a 1g head (larger ports). No mixing and matching parts for me.


The intake manifold will be the same. Port differences are between 1g and 2g heads, not 6 bolt and 7 bolt heads.

Shouldv'e just said short block. The head is the same except 11mm holes need to be remed to 12mm for 6 bolt block.

All of this is the same. Its a 1g 7bolt.

Yep, 1g 7 bolt also had 1g 6 intake manny. The 2g 7 is better.

Full 1g 7 bolt setup = 7 bolt block (but not 2g 7 bolt) and 1g head (which uses a 1g intake manifold).

But back on topic...

2g head being better is still being debated..Not a bad idea for anyone tho, and a definate upgrade to a stock auto 1g..Swap in some 1g 5 speed cams with that 2g head on that 1g auto..And,Ohh crap I'm ranting allready today..

If the 2g head debate was as simple as upgrade for 1g auto, vs 5 speed etc..Maybe you wouldnt get so many this head is better hands down type deals..
