what's better for wide band

I have no idea what is a better wide band and with it all comes with i found a couple and my friend told me to go with the one with out a sweep but don't you need a sweep ? light on it ? here are the links tell me what you guys think.

out of thos could some one tell me whats the best thank you :confused:
i thought we needed the sweep. he said no its for "ricers". the last one does not have a sweep it lights up blue
 
although a little pricey.. plx widebands are really good. i have one and its amazing imo. mine is the sm-afr/ dm5 combo.. easy to install and needs no calibration like some do..
 
I would get the lc-1 before the others. The other innovate is good also, you can't really go bad with them honestly. I'm running the aem, but that's only because I got a good deal had I paid retail I would have gotten the lc-1.
 
The LC1 is the best option but consider looking into the Innovate MXT-L controller. Wiring is much easier and it has a sweep gauge as well if you are into that. I'm using the MXT-L and absolutely love it more than the older LC-1.

I have same PLX setup and it seems to work great. PLX is not real popular in the DSM community. But I've been surprised at how many of the more well known and respected DSM tuners are using PLX (mostly the older M300).

A few of the nice features include:

No calibration required (self calibrating)

Super thin gauge opens up more mounting options. Mine is mounted in a gauge cluster bezel which has limited mounting depth. AEM, for example, hits the clear plastic of the gauge cluster causing it to stick partially out of the mounting cup.

PLX also just released the new DM-6 multi-gauge which has a touch screen. Not a necessity but it's still pretty cool IMO.

I have the lc1 in my car I like it it does its job. I just installed a aem uego with the sweep gauge which I personally like better than the digital in a customers car. The wifing is by far simpler and you don't have a big controller box ti figure out what to do with.
 
Excuse my ignorance..LOL but I have always just used regular analog gauges in my other cars. With these wide band gauges can you only get them for AFR?

??? I'm going to go ahead and assume you're referring to the gauge style: a digital read-out with the outside light sweep; then yes plenty of places make digital gauges in that style for whatever you want to monitor. AEM actually runs a whole line of them if you like them and want all your gauges to match:

AEM UEGO Wideband O2, Water/Meth Injection, EMS, V2, Cold Air Intakes, Brute Force Intakes, AEM Gauges and Electronics

If you prefer an analog-style wideband, those are available too from AEM and multiple other companies, though they may not react as fast as the light-sweep style. The light-sweep style react basically instantly on the gauge as there are no moving parts. Analog on the other hand can have some lag, depending on how fast the stepper motor is.

If you're asking if a wide-band can read more than air/fuel ratio, then no they cannot. They are a single purpose gauge.

There are plenty of other companies that make gauges in a similar style, but don't cheap out on gauges if you plan to do any modding. They were just having a talk on 3SI the other night showing the difference between cheapo's and good quality gauges. The digital light-sweep style are more closely matched, but digital analog gauges have proven that cheap brands move the needle WAY too slowly. I.E. if you had a boost spike you'd never see it. In applications where speed is a factor (boost, AFR) you want a gauge that will react quickly. It's not worth risking your motor to save a few bucks on gauges IMHO.

On topic with wide-band choice, I run a AEM UEGO currently, but plan to upgrade to the MTX-L in the near furture. The UEGO does the job decently enough, I have no complaints really. The MTX-L however is not only faster (supposedly) but from what I can see has a wider range that it can read. From what I can tell from Innovate's site theirs can read from 7.25-22.4 versus the 10-18 of my UEGO (can some one confirm it really reads that far?). If that's true then that's damn handy as the stock map richens up to 9:1 at WOT, which is already below what my UEGO can read (not a problem if you tune it for 11.5:1 at WOT but I like the wider range anyway). The MTX-L also has 2 outputs so I can run narrow-band simulation as well as log my wide-band simultaneously. Wish they would have went with a better color choice though, I'm not really digging the yellow.

On the side, the LC-1 is/was a great wide-band, but as stated, the MTX-L is all that and more. That and the outside light-sweep I find very convenient as you can see where your AFR is (generally) without having to specifically read the numerical display, definitely not "ricer" IMO. I can see much faster when the color changes to red and shoots across the outside of the gauge than actually watch it go from reading 12.0 to 18.0 with no color change. Either way, enjoy your LC-1, it's a great gauge no matter how you slice it.

Yes, the factory sweep range is that wide. I would suggest going into log works and narrowing the sweep to a more useful range if on gasoline to have a more accurate read. I have mine set up to read between 9:1-20:1 and also set up ECMLink (if using it) to read the same.

Both wires are able to be changed for voltage through LogWorks as well. If on a stock ECU then the 0-1v wire would hook up to the front o2 sensor wire at the ECU to enable narrow band simulation via the controller. The 0-5v wire is for data logging.

Again, you can manually change which wire gets which voltage using the provided software.

The MTX-L is still an LC-1 controller but it's been worked over. The controller is in the gauge itself and you are now down to a minimum of hooking up 3 wires IIRC. That is much better than the older version that has the large controller box and requires soldering about 8-10 wires.

Calibrations are now down to doing an unplugged sensor start up and then plugging it in. The old LC-1 required a push button to be integrated into the sensor ground to work.

ok i get it now, so if i was looking at running the AEM UEGO wideband i would have to be using a system like dsmlink correct?

No. All wide bands have their own controller which takes the signal from the sensor, translates that signal, and then sends it to a gauge (most have a gauge). The only time you would require an outside monitering system is if you wanted to data log or you didn't have a gauge to read.

The UEGO is plug-and-play but it's inferior to the MXT-L and is harder to get to log properly or recognized on Link.
