Found a grey 98 GSX for sale today and I'm seriously considering it, just curious on what you guys think is a good price to offer.

1998 Eclipse GSX. Grey on grey. 84,000 miles. 5-speed. New tires, brakes, all warranty work done and recently had a tune up (december). Fully loaded, and has tinted windows, an intake and aftermarket muffler.

She is asking $10,750. I checked kbb.com and it said somewhere around $9,000. You guys think it would be resonable for me to offer $9,000 or would she think I'm trying to "low-ball" her? :( or should I try even lower?

Thanks! :thumb:

Just got some more info on the car...

There's a decent sized scratch on the hatch right under the spoiler, and there's a small bubble under the paint where the lock is for the trunk. She said I'm going to need to find a new amp because the one in the car is blown. The radio and stuff works, but since there's no amp, there's no sound. All that stuff I'm ok with, but she has altezzas on the car and some banner across the back window rofl  but hopefully I can figure out how to get rid of that stuff with some searching on here.

She sent some pics but I don't have anywhere to host :( But over all (minus the tails LOL) the car looks pretty good. She got all the pumps and belts and plugs and wires replaced august of last year, so :thumb: to that LOL.

DOH, didn't even see that LOL... here they are...

the scratch :(

I hope you have cash....the depreciation on Mitsu cars is the worst eva... on a that 98 car I would give no more then 9000k ish...and if your getting a bank loan they will prob not give you higher then 9500k or so..I remember when i was look for another 2 eclipse my banks would not give me more then 8900 for a 98 2g

Its not that mitsubishi cars have the worst resale value. Its majority of Turbo vehicles have terrible resale value. Wrx is the most recent culprit, those things with 60k on them are being sold for an easy 16k now. Yet one with 20k on them will be selling for 20k. Everything is relative.

As for the price, thats decent in my book. Depends on where you live, Ive looked into some GSXs in Florida and they seem to run MUCH lower than up in Massachussetts. You have to keep in mind GSXs are really hard to find.

Honestly, if you offered me 9 grand, I would laugh. But thats just me. If you have to give her $10,000 for it. You have to understand through her aspect. Its a damn Turbo AWD vehicle. AWD!. Plus its rare as hell, and KBB does not incorporate rarity on their vehicles.

All in all if you have to pay $10k , stick it up and pay it. Its worth it.
