what kind of gas mileage are you getting?

Hi, I'm just curious at what kind of MPG (miles per gallon) or how many miles you are getting per full tank?

please list mods and type of driving

I'm currently getting around 210-230 miles per full tank, i fill my tank with exactly 11 gallons of 92 octane. thats what 20 bucks buy in hawaii.

right now i have just an intake, 2.5 dp and 3in full piping catback

car is just used for transportation, once in a while i would just sample it a few times.

18g, FP2X cams(aggresive), 650s, DSMlink

33mpg

28 mpg on a playful stretch! These cars get good gas milage. If you're getting bad gas milaged, you need more timing through out the rev range, whch means you may need a big F&$#*!ng intercooler or water injection. You need to make more power with what fuel you have to expend.

depends on how i drive, for my town there is only one car that can beat my stock 1.8 and its a 96 TSi AWD turbo, not on the road, one of my good friends, which inspried me to buy a dsm. so i dont have to play much, i get 175 to a half tank, on 89 octane Plus gas, with playing involved, i get 22 when i play, when i shift every gear @ 2k, i pound out about 29mpg, and from what i observed, i bought it in D.C., drove it back to Lanc, PA i wasn't paying attention to my mileage, but i put $10 in just down the road from where i got it, had a little over half-tank and made it back on less the a 1/4.

yeah, i know its sad, i can beat really anything, well in my "class". cause i ain't takin down no ford 460's, chevy 350's, or dodge 318's. my only embarasment was a turbo probe ate me.

I want to get some 650 or 660 injectors for my car. Though, i dont want to lose too much more gas mileage. I am wondering how many miles you guys get on a tank of gas with bigger injectors. I dont care if you dont have 650's but anything that is a bigger size would be helpful.

Either way you will want some way to control/adjust how much fuel you are feeding the engine. Nobody just throws on injectors and deals with crappy mileage. If you just straight up went from 450's to 650's, I could guestimate that your gas mileage would drop quite a bit as well as running extremely rich all of the time as well as a slower car. With that said, save your money and get some way to regulate the fuel through MAFT, SAFC, chip, or something.

If you just straight up went from 450's to 650's, then you would be flowing 44% more fuel, so I could guestimate that your gas mileage would drop quite a bit as well as running extremely rich all of the time as well as a slower car. Ok. My real question was what type of gas mileage is everyone gettting with 650's or 660's and a good tune. I know all the supporting mods that go with the injectors, all i want to know is the gas mileage people are getting with 650's or 660's with whatever type of tuning device you have.

(1 - 450cc/680cc) * 100% = 32% more fuel flow.

Upgrading injectors and getting the correct closed loop tune will not yield different gas milage.

PTE 660s, 18G, FP2Xs, FMIC, Walbro 255HP, 30 psi. I spent a whole tank driving the speedlimit (not 5 over) at all times and accelerating normally with traffic: 33 mpg. This included some in-town driving.

I get about 22-25 through town, and about 30 on the highway, dependant upon how much boosting is involved. I am running 660cc injectors, all supporting mods on a 16g. I got nearly the same on my old GSX with stock injectors.

WhoopsROFL I guess it was too late for me to do math correctly. My bad.

I'm stock getting about 20 street, 25 highway. Is this low? or will fuel tuning give me better mpg?

Much different than 93? Does anyone with a turbo run 87? Also a side question does adding a BOV do much for the car compared to what it is stock?

I am getting anywhere from 19-21 on 91. The stock BOV on 2nd gen will leak if you up the boost the 1st gen BOV or an aftermarket will not. That is the advantage adding an aftermarket BOV.

i get about 20-22ish on 91(highest we can get locally in co)

This is with a vented bov...

edit: ^^ haha another co homie.

average here. that was on stock injectors though, fuel pressure at approx 40psi... car hasn't worked since big injectors.

20ish was during clutch break-in period so it was being driven super easy.

I didn't notice, but my tires were really under-inflated, and I got 15 on my last tank. Oops.... Anyways, I tried running 87 on my 96 GST, that was a bad idea. The performance notably dropped and the idle air sensor went bad (related or not, I'm superstitious so I'm running 91 from now on). I have never heard anyone say anything good about trying to run a turbo on 87 octane.

Yeah I get about 20-22 MPG daily driving my 95 GSX. Thats when i drive it pretty nice but maybe a few quick little runs :sneaky: But dont even bother putting in 87 octane. It damages sensors and like you said performance drops noticeably. Plus premium gas is only about 10 cents more than 87. So filling up your tank will only cost you a dollar or two more at most. Like people say if you can buy the car, you can pay for the gas.

I had 2 people who owned this car before me does this car need to be reflashed if it had 87 run in it? Cause I usually put 91-93 in it but if the computers jacked then I dunno.

Performance does decrease; however, it does not damage sensors. Only leaded fuels can damage your o2 sensors.

The "octane value" is a term coined by Todd Day to refer to the memory address that is used as a longterm timing trim. If the ECU hears a moderate amount of knock for a long time, or alot of knock for a shorter amount of time, it will keep reducing the value in this memory address. Normally set at 255 (FULL), it will keep getting reduced as long as it hears knock. This could be due to just getting a bad tank of gas, or perhaps running more boost than you are tuned for. But, even if you fix the problem, by filling back up with good premium fuel, or turning down the boost, the "octane value" can take several hundred miles to work its way back up to "FULL" value again.
