hey guys, i know this is a stupid question but i just got my 1995 eclipse gs-t and it ran fine when i got it but now it is losing power and running pretty crappy. i put premium in and wasnt sure if i am using the wrong kind gas and that is the reason it was running bad. so i ask you....do what kind of gas do you use???? premium, the middle one, or regular unleaded

I believe 2G engines require 91 octane (same as 1G). Look at the octane rating, not whether it's "premium," "Silver," "Regular" or whatever. Premium where I live is 91 octane. Other places it's 92 or 93. You don't have to use any higher than recommended if your car is stock. Of course higher won't hurt it either.

For turbo cars, whatever Premium/Super/Ultimate is at your pump (91 or 92 on West coast, 93+ when going East). I wouldn't dare filling up with less than 93 if 93 is available, ESPECIALLY when you start modifying your car.

I'm also in Michigan and try to get Sunoco 94 as much as possible. Also, Shell V-power if I can't find a Sunoco. The rumor I've heard is that V-power is rated at 93, but the additives push the effect up a little. Either way, it's premium.

i normally use 93 but a sunoco station 5 minutes from my house has 94 that i use sometimes, and another sunoco station about 15 minutes from my house has 100 that i use on occasion. and the dragway in my town has all the 104,110,112,116 but i only get a couple gallons when im there so hardly any of it gets used on the street

Well im not sure the other part of your question was addressed. Now since i haven't ever drivin your car, i don't know what "crappy" feels like. If you think its runny bad like power wise, a simple solution that may help is get Valvoline's Syn Power Complete Fuel System cleaner i think its called. Just add it to an almost empy tank and fill er up. Also you may have gotten a little bit of bad gas. I had sever troubles putting speedway 92 in one time. I either run Marathon's 93 or on ocasion Sunoco's 94.

If you are trying to get the most out of your car and plan on keeping it for a while, 93 is the way to go (as stated above, the higher the octane the better...more knock Resistance) if its a daily driver and non turbo (a gs or something like that) 87 or 89 would be just fine.

Always use the highest for forced induction cars. I put in 93 in my POS 90 MX-6 and I actually noticed that I got more fuel mileage out of it then 87 OMG

I don't understand why people put the highest octane in when mod wise its clearly a waste.

Highest octane you need is whatever keeps it from detonating early, any higher is a waste of money.

I run 116 b/c of my tune. I am leaned out to 13.5:1. I run high timing and boost is set to about 30 psi, and no I have no knock.

these are all daily drivers but i alternate:

'97 GSX: sunoco 110
'95 GSX: 93
'93 TSI: 93

I live in ma, I use the most I can find, usually 93 at Sunnoco. I usually meet up with a bunch of DSMers in NH once a week, so I pretty much use 110, I just don't fill my tank up, usually 1/4- 1/2 when I'm racing

In NorCal, I'm stuck with 91-garbage. Up north at Infineon Raceway, I always fill up with Sunoco 100-oct before I leave, and pay $7/gallon for it.
