hey guys, i know this is a stupid question but i just got my 1995 eclipse gs-t and it ran fine when i got it but now it is losing power and running pretty crappy. i put premium in and wasnt sure if i am using the wrong kind gas and that is the reason it was running bad. so i ask you....do what kind of gas do you use???? premium, the middle one, or regular unleaded

Good ol piston piss 91 here in cali.I miss florida gas,i use to put 93 on my old gs and even on my wife's kia sportage.Highest octane will always tender you better gas mileage and it just feels good for our engine.

Hey guys, just woundering, is it ok to run unleaded regular? Asking this cauz gas price is up the ass. Also what octanne sould I be runnen?

holy crap, you're in MN where often times the mid-grade and log grade are the same price! you have E85 up there for god's sake. And Race gas in the MSP area. don't cheap out on the gas. it's what... $1.70 more a tank for good gas? if you DO use the cheap CRAP, don't boost. drive like an old lady. knock is bad. :nono:

Also, there are about 642,356 posts on this already, it's likely to be closed. for that, and the lack of proper spelling in the text.

It depends if you're turbo or not

dude, "TSi AWD" turbo = don't use crappy gas. If he was curious about a car other than a DSM, the hope is that would be clarified on a DSM site. Come on people, just do some searches. High basic compression and forced induction engines typically require higher octane fuels to avoid detonation. If you don't wanna pay for the gas, don't drive the fast car.

The best I can get around here is 91... should I be using octane boost or is 91 good enough? I am pretty much stock except for the "intake" and exhaust and the "free" mods.

all other things being equal, 91 is fine as long as you're not boosting above 16psi or so on the stock (aka crappy inefficient) turbo. using octane booster isn't going to hurt, but it isn't gonna help a whole lot either. especially for the price. see ya

So then running on 87 for turbo cars WILL decrease power?... what happens if you fill up with 87, then return back to 91 or 94 the next time, will you see an increase in power again without any problems???
thanks.

running regular once won't hurt will it?... a freind of mine filled me up on regular  by accident, but obviously this will be the only time I don't use 91+

Your car will be fine. It will have retarded timing to prevent knock. It will advance it again with good gas.

If you ever get stuck with 87 just be sure to stay off the boost.

well theres a good reason to move to texas, (i say this only because it is a possibility due to my fathers job, its really an open choice he has) they have fuel there, not watered down most expensive gas in the country (the bay area) 91 octane... i might as well just fill my car up with tap water and see what happens...

BP or Chevron. 93 octane ALWAYS. My car doesn't like any other gas and I can tell a performance difference, especially when I use BP. Less stuttering and misfires.

I wish the shell here sold 93 v-power, we have 91 v-power instead... what is the v-power anyways? Just fuel injector cleaner?

husky 94 octane (10% ethanol).. the difference between 91 and 94 is very noticable in my car. i love this stuff.. car just loves advancing timing on this stuff :D
