Hi, I'm just curious at what kind of MPG (miles per gallon) or how many miles you are getting per full tank?

please list mods and type of driving

I'm currently getting around 210-230 miles per full tank, i fill my tank with exactly 11 gallons of 92 octane. thats what 20 bucks buy in hawaii.

right now i have just an intake, 2.5 dp and 3in full piping catback

car is just used for transportation, once in a while i would just sample it a few times.

24.8 MPG at 80MPH after stroker project. Mods are in my profile.

About 21MPG at 80 MPH on stock engine.

See the project will pay for itself in about 1000 months.

Realize that miles per tank is a deceptive number. The AWD tank is only 12 gallons. I'm not sure, but I think that the FWDs are 16 gallons. Whatever it is, the FWD tanks are bigger.

I get about 20-22mpg city with a VERY short commute, but I get close to 29mpg highway doing ~85mph. I think my PCV valve just flaked out again, because this last tank of gas is going way too quick. Time to boost leak test again.

Yea, i need to do another BLT myself. And my tune is rich in the low boost areas, so anytime i'm accelerating, i'm burning a lot of fuel. I'll lose some of the power i love so much at light throttle take offs with this tune, but for my wallet's sake i think i'll go back to the leaner less powerfull low boost tune. (the 0 - ~7psi range)

My '96 2g AWD owners manual says it's a 16 gallon tank, and 1000AAQ says it's 17gal. I've always figured this to be about right, as I usually get about 14 gallons in the tank per fill up (shortly after the warning light comes on).

Either way, I get about 220 per fill up (again, about 14 gallons), and that's all city stop/go, and when I get the urge, boosting like gas is free. Which ends up being about every time I'm in the car. On the highway, I get about 325-350 out of a fill up.

I've never seen more than 28mpg, and that was when I was completely stock.

On my old 550's i was able to get over 35 MPG highway by turning the fuel trim knob way lean on cruising loads. At about 16-18:1 AFR or somewhere in that range, I've even got away with 19:1 on the highway before too.

Fuel trim knob? People put those on street cars? I guess I've never heard of it, but believe it. Ironically I have experience with race cars and muscle cars. So some of the stuff that is done in tuners is new to me, but I'm excited to learn.

Is "in the cockpit" fuel tuning normal? How much does that cost? How's it work? All digital? Or is it mechanical?Mechanical doesn't seem to make sense to me... seems like it'd have to be a ECU thing..

So a bigger turbo helps with fuel mileage? I assumed better air intake and exhaust would help. Anything that helps breathing. Again, I figured leaning it up would help a lot. I know I just asked, but I am interested in how cockpit fuel ratios are done.

The fuel trim is a feature of the haltech engine management system I run. You can have fuel and ignition adjustment on the fly at either +/-12% to +/-50% on the fuel. And ignition ranges from +/- 8* either way. Then there's other stuff you can do with it as well. It costs about 1400 bucks to get into the system, then you'll have to pay for install and tune or learn to do it yourself. I'm not recomending the DIY route, I had a TON of experience in "tuning piggybacks" and building engines before i did my first stand alone and it was a bear to figure out with no "guiding light" and not for those that don't ahve a good understanding of engine's and engine theory along with some sort of advanced experience in eletronics. It's great in every other aspect though, and if i wreck this car i can put it on anything from from a golf cart to a 12 cyl ferrari.

And a bigger turbo hurt my mileage, as i have to rev each gear higher and then ge that big turbo into some boost everytime i leave a light. And when this turbo makes 3-5 lbs of boost it's like the stocker doing 8-9lbs so fuel consumption is negatively effected in the city, but gets better on the highway because the turbo doesn't spool everytime your cruise control kicks in to bring you back up to speed.

A note about "breathing", anything that lets in more air has one problem. When you ahve more air you need more fuel to go with it. Now freeing up some things to take "restriction" off the engine that creates extra load to require more fuel (like facory catalitic converters and mufflers) can move more air and give better mileage.

91 octane gas. 14 pounds of boost. 25-30 mpg driving it softly (shifting befor 2500rpm) in the city and highway mix. 19 mpg when it was snowing ;)(way to much fun) mods are on my list.

Correct me if wrong but 120 sounds a little low.

Air Filter
Fuel Filter
Tire Pressure
Alignment
Spark Plugs

Any CEL's on?
Boost Leak Test

Can you be more descriptive? What are you seeing for gas mileage? How do you drive? Where do you drive? Does the vehicle run well overall (Doesn't stutter and die out)

Need to be way more specific and more descriptive.

Yeah you knew what I ment

-Air filter is brand new
-Fuel filter is ok I get since the car is running rich
-Alignment is off a lil since I lowered it but before it milage was the same
-sparkplugs are brand new i had to change them last week because there were covered in sludge

-A CEL is not on
-Boost leaks I dont have a tester(anything that would be around the house do it???)
-I'm driving it maybe 20 miles a day and I'm seeing the needle move about an 1/8 of a tank. I filled the tank the Friday I've went 78 mile and its about 5/8 of a tank
-I drive on the highway at 4000rpm in 4th (no 5th gear)
-In town I get on it everyonce any a while not much because theres no 1st either
- the runs on some times its just up and dies other times it dies after boosting if I dont shift fast enough

1. Fill your tank.
2. Set your tripmeter to 0.
3. Run 250 miles.
4. Refill the tank.
5. Divide the Miles by the number of Gallons to refill.

Give us that number, and we'll have a place to start from. Miles-per-tank means exactly shit.

I get 30mpg on the highway and about 20mpg in town driving.

SAFC II
680 cc/min injectors
2g MAF
2g pistons on 1g rods
stock SMIC and piping

When I first bought my car it was running on 2 cylinders had lots of boost leaks and an exhaust leak.

I got about 8mpg with that set-up.

My gas gauge is broken so I go by the light, but I get about 18-20 mpg with my E3 16G pushing 22 psi, depending on how overzealous I get on the throttle.

I have a 97 eagle talon auto regular ol' joe... nothing to special, just over 100k now on it. My mileage seems to suck! it has a aem cold air intake (in the engine bay, I have the part that goes under and behind the bumper though) and a stupid fart can wich I want to replace becouse its to loud. As for mods thats IT! oil changed fequently and the trans had some work (broken shift shaft) so it has fresh fluid as well. I just feal like the mileage is lacking, I got only 120 miles to half a tank the other day, this is of course in town driving, does that sound about right? what should I be getting? Are one of my simple mods hurting my mileage? I plan on doing a spark plug change tomorow, I got the car with 97k and im unsure if they have ever been changed! let me know guys what your getting and how your getting it and wether or not Im getting the correct mileage for my car.

dont trip on my hubcaps, thats how I roll!ROFL

oh by the way, I did search all over this forum for mileage answers, but all I run up on is turbo and awd models, mine is just the plain jane 2wd auto model.

My '93 AWD was averaging around 24mpg, around 300 miles on a tank, before it broke on me. I think it could have been ever better since I had a 255 walbro and no FPR. But of course mine is a turbo model so it's not so comparable to yours. But 120 miles on a half tank on a N/T car doesn't sound right at all.

Have you done a tune up or anything lately? New plugs, plug wires, cleaning or changing of the intake filter and possibly a new fuel filter might help?

I used to own a 97 Eclipse RS and it got 38mpg on the hwy. All I had on it was an AEM CAI, header and MSD coil pack and MSD plug wires. It was a manual trans though. Cant remember what it got in the city. Check your plugs and wires. Change your fuel filter. Try some fuel injector cleaner. You also might want to replace your O2 sensors. :dsm:

on the o2 sensour part, wouldnt it through a code if it wasnt working correctly? also I bought this car with 97k and I dont know about any previous work that was done, Im sure the timming belt was done as the cover looks to have been removed at one time, I plan on doing a minor tune up tomorow on it. Also this mileage is strictly in town mileage, my GF is driving it right now since im working on her car.
