What is this part, 1g head oil regulator??

I tore a head down the other day and found this in there, I have NO clue what this is or what it came off of. Between 4 DSM gurus with 70 years of DSM experience combined none of us know what it is.

Pull the plug see whats in there. my guess is it's some kinda early jdm hla regulator,

Correct. That's a previous style hla regulator that originally came with JDM 6 bolt head. I have one, too. I don't know if USDM 6 bolt head came with it or not.
