Well I'm looking into changing my fuel managing system and was looking into DSM link. In their complete set that is 500 dollars that does not come with the Eprom that I will need correct.

Is there any other manage system out there that is even worth looking at and are most of them that is not an AFC going to need an Eprom as well.

I don't care to buy I just want to find something that is user friendly.

When going with the DSM link that's going to cost around 700 with the Eprom? I have been using my AFC and had to upgrade my injectors and the AFC will not tune it any more. Also got an GM Translator is that good to have with the DSM link and can you get a good tune with it some what. I know the GM is not that good cause it increases or decreases in 5% increment.

If any one lives in Arizona do you know a dyno that I could go to and have a hook up for a deal to tune thanks to all.

Please I want information not a grading on my writing still or punctuation. Again thank you Keep make the DSM world a world others want to join so don't be a DI@*

Since you have a 90 gsx you should already have the eprom ecu so you just need to send it in to them to have them socket it. And you could get their gm maf cable to plug directly into your stock maf wiring harness and then sell the translator to make up for some of the money. And in my opinion, after having dsmlink for almost 4 years there isnt anything to compare to the adjustability and features that it has.

As for tuning, join azawd group - azawd.org and look up a guy named Phuong. He has a shop in Mesa called Wingz performance and is simply amazing with tuning. He will give you an amazing street tune and if you want a dyno to give you numbers you can contact UMS Tuning as well through that forum. They have a dynapack dyno and really know their stuff as well. Not to mention the members there are awesome and have meets, both local and statewide, on a regular basis.

Dsmlink v3 lite is like 395 or so and you can send them your ecu and have it converted to eprom for 110. Dsmlink, afc, chipped ecus, aem ems, greddy emanage are pretty close to the the tuning options for 1g. Emanage is basically a glorified SAFC...chips are usually fairly safely tuned, aem is alot of work. Dsmlink is user friendly and works fine with translator as long as you 0 out the settings. Or convert to sd with ostrich and run Jackle. Costs close to what link does and still takes a eprom.

Thanks a lot guy I'm going to get that DSM link and hit up your guy in mesa. I hope to get at least 350- 400 HP out of this car got everything in the car just need to tune it. I can't wait to see this thing fly.

I got a other question I have a throttle that seem to bounce up and down really like goes to 2g and then sit nice a 12-14g but then has a up and down effect. Rebuilt the throttle body and have not leak in it anymore could this be the BISS or the TPS. Just can't get the car to run in the 11-12.0.1 with this bounce.

Yeah bro Phuong will definitely not disappoint you thats for sure. And he will go over each and every thing he changes if you want him too. Hell he will even spend extra time after working with you launching the car properly if you dont know how.

I live right up the street and burn eprom chips. It would be a good idea to at least have proper injector compensation in the ecu, and a modified timing map for your 9:1 compression.

Sounds more like the ISC to me. Here is how to test it:
Remove the ISC from the TB (it's just 2 bolts), then have a friend (or anyone really) turn the key to the "on" position and then back off while you hold the ISC and watch to see if it moves in and out like in the video. If it doesn't do that, you have a bad ISC.

And as for your original question, ECMlink V3! I just got it this week and am in the process of learning how to tune it myself.

All i wanted to add is that you're correct on leaning towards ECMlink. Its worth your time and investment- I'm using lite and its great- very user friendly if you're willing to read a bunch and learn how to use the system. Remember to order your GM maf integration cable because you won't be dissapointed when link manages your MAF settings- mine manages my EVO maf no problems (once set up right). The advice you've received so far seems spot on and i wish you luck.

:talon:

Yea the idle problem sounds like your ISC. You might also want to check your BISS screw adjustment because the ISC works in conjunction with it. I think I am saying that right. Basically if you had ecmlink you could adjust the BISS screw until your ISC position is around 30. If it does nothing at all then you know you have a bad ISC. You can also just test the ISC or do the method shown above. In the end... +1 for ecmlink and if you need an ISC for a 90' then let me know.. I have one for sale.

No one mentions jackal?.....:p

Go try ds-map.net and give them a lookover. You need to have an ostrich emulator (about $199 last I checked), and a MAP sensor, as well as an IAT sensor, which you can buy new for like $10-15 at any auto parts store. If your ecu is socketed you''re in luck, if not, have ECM tuning perform a socket conversion. Then, join ds-map.net, and the software is $19.99, and boom, there you go.

IMO jackal is cheaper, but a little more in depth. But just as well, ds-map is such a close-knit community that the members there are more than happy to help you with whatever you need with the program, or with the car.

Either case, explore all options and decide how far you want to go. If you want retarded death dealing numbers (800+), you may want to start saving for an AEM....just a suggestion LOL. No point in having your car set up one way and have to change it later because it can't keep up. Do it once and do it right.

Hey donnie you guy's have a meet in town somewhere?

Hey 98GSX you know that guys number if so PM me so I can get a number on how much and stuff thanks?

Does this still work for 90 GSX? cause that look like a 95 ISC, the 90 ISC seems to just have a hole in it I don't even know how it senses stuff.

The ICS is the same for all years. It's not a sensor, it's just a motor that the ECU controls to bypass x amount of air past the throttle plate to help stabilize idle.

Yes, like Liquidx said, the ISC's are all the same. The 1990 ISC looks a little different because it has a pigtail coming off of it instead of the standard plug, but it can be replaced my any of the newer ones. This is off topic but check out this site for more info on DSM ISC's.

So when you buy dsm link from one of these shop it comes with a chip right?
What are the difference between a eprom ECU and non eprom?
When they socket the ECU they just make it so the chip just snaps into the ECU?

I just wondering what all I have to buy with DSMLink. I can find the cable, chip, and program for like $350. What else do I need?

This is what I think I have to get
1. DSMLink $350
2. Eprom ECU $200ish
3. Get Eprom socket $40
Would I be right with this list Again thanks to all of you so far.

here is the information on the difference between eprom and non eprom. try checking around on ECMlink website a bit you might just find all the information you are looking for. ECMTuning, Inc. :thumb:

if your ECU isn't Eprom then yo can send it to ECMlink and they can convert it to an Eprom for $135 rather than spending the money on another ecu them having to send it off to have it socketed. unless you cant afford to have your car not running for the couple of days it takes them to do the conversion.
