Good, let us know. I've yet to hear from someone who's tried more than one "premium" gear oil in the trans.

I have tried.

Redline Gear oil
then
Royal Purple Gear oil
and
I just put in Amsoil Gear oil.

I haven't done too much driving on the amsoil yet but I can tell you the redline was better than the royal purple. After the amsoil is ready to be changed I will try the penzoil.

Xfer case and Diff I always use Redline Heavyweight Shockproof.
Oil I always use Royal Purple(takes my lifter tick away)
Plugs NGK BPR6ES
Brake Fluid Any DOT4

i bought the redline, it seems like turbotrix is a fan of it and uses it in every trans they build. I was orginally going to go with mobil 1 syn or bg syncroshift..

i'll probably test them all out for a month at a time.. i will find out which is the best in the winter when driving it.. a few trans oils i used seem to be notchy until it warms up..

What do I use to fill the rear end and transfer case on my 92 GSX automatic? Do these take different fluids than the 5 speeds?

The pennzoil stuff that everybody is using is just for the manual transmissions, correct? Is there anything decent that I can get for my rear diff/transfer case locally? Does Pennzoil make any performance stuff for those that I can maybe buy at Autozone?

same problem here, im done installing my rebuilt tranny, now i need some fluids, i did the tranny with pennzoil, now i need some fluid for transfer case and rear, but i dont want to have to wait a few days for it, anything at autozone we could pick up thats also used?

Yes, the Pennzoil Synchromesh is only for manual transmissions. Some use it in the transfer case as well. I'd feel comfortable with any of the usual, on-the-shelf fluids meant for hypoid differentials in the rear end. Book calls for MOPAR Hypoid gear oil, GL-5 or higher. There's always the dealer.

which type of redline would you use in a 90 gs-turbo???

BG SyncroShift
BG Syncroshift II Full Synthetic
Red Line Manual Transmission Lube MTL
Red Line MT-90 Transmission Lube

:dsm: :dsm: ok can anyone tell me whats the best tranny fluid, transfer fluid, and differential fluid to run in a 1994,talon,awd,turbo,with a 2600 and other mods but the others doesnt really have to do with this post so im not posting them... :talon:

There is no best fluid, but popular choices include BG Syncroshift II and GM Syncromesh. You can run either of these in the trans, xfer and rear diff. Some prefer running a heavier oil in the xfer and rear diff such as Redline Shockproof Gear Lube but if you live in a cold climate it may be too thick.

I run BG II in all three and have no complaints.

Heya, I have a 95 Talon TSI. Its an automatic and has 115k on it and I want to make sure I do everything so it lasts me. It has a newer transmission in it and I want to keep it in good shape.

I would like to get some information so I can buy the fluids and have them changed. I would like to know how to change the - Trans,Transfer Case , and Rear diff. fluids, also which fluids I should buy for them.

I have searched and cant come up with anything specific. Thanks ahead of time for any help!~ :coy: :talon:

Your chosen screen name rather invites it.

Otherwise, please

this oft-discussed, far from mysterious subject.

Thank you.

Just wondering what kind of transmission fluid you guys use. My boyfriend uses mobil 1 synthetic 10W-30 motor fluid in his transmission on his 3S, he told me to ask on this website.

thanks
Gillian

Most knowledgable people here who have tryed them all, swear by GM Syncromesh or Pennzoil Syncromesh (same stuff as GM but way cheaper) for DSM's. I became a believer also when I tryed it. Does wonders for easier shifting. Please don't put any kind of motor oil in your 1g transmission (even if it works for him)!

Pennzoil Syncromesh - Superlube has it and its cheaper than others. If you don't want to do Pennzoil, then you have GM Synchromesh or BG Synchroshift for AWD. If you had a FWD you'd go with BG Synchroshift II instead of the regular BG Synchroshift or any one of the others above.

In case you missed this in the 2nd post, PLEASE DO NOT PUT MOTOR OIL IN ANY DSM TRANSMISSION.

GM SYNCHROMESH!!!! MY 5TH GEAR DOESNT GRIND ANYMORE IM SO HAPPY!!! I SALVAGED MY SYNCHROS TOO!! its about $8 a bottle for the blended synthetic and $13 a bottle for the full synthetic. i went with the $8 and it woked wonders.

I have Redline MTL in my tranny right now but need to do a change. I'm leaning toward the BG/GM/Pennzoil, but has anyone ever tried the Royal Purple Synchromax?
