platinum plugs [Merged 6-7]

Do not use Bosch plugs. Go to machv.com and they have ngk. like four or five different depending on your set up.

You definitely want to stick with NGKs.
You may want to consider the NGK BPR7ES if you plan on running more boost in the future once you get some injectors and tuning to go with that turbo.

You are running 18 psi on a t28 with just a 255lph fuel pump?

If I were you, I would get a logger and back off the boost until you can see what your doing. You could be causing some serious damage to your engine.

Platinums proved disasterous in DSMs and other turbo applications when they were introduced, sometimes with severe engine damage occuring, but usually failure of the side electrode.
I've not heard of them being recommended for our applications since.

Stick with NGK. Miss NGK would never mislead you.

Get the platinums out yesterday, not today, not tomorrow. They are bad news, especially @ 18psi. Shop around town, someone's going to have the proper NGK's.

Yes, most tards workin at parts stores wont even know how to cross reference BPR7ES, so to make things alot easier and fail proof, walk in and say, "gimme 4 NGK 2023's.....NOW!!!" Or somehing along those lines, should make it easier to get. Advance auto parts usually keeps those as a stocking item so they should have them.

In addition to the tendency of platinum plugs to break off pieces in turbo motors the self cleaning platinum cathode retains heat from combustion and can cause pre-ignition in turbo motors.

I read elsewhere that of all the platinum plugs out there the bosche plugs are the worst. There is so little platinum in them it should be called false advertising.

Yea just go to your local auto parts store. If they carry NGK, they should have it.

There is a wiseman/mod here who will vouch for the walmart autolite plugs as well. Do a search for "autolite" and the threads will come up. There are equivilents to the ngk 6s or 7s. I run the autolites on my beater with no negative results.

I've seen excellent, consistant results in autolite via other applications. I run them in my turboford and my father runs them in his "well powered" GN. I run NGK bpr7es, but w/ my next plug change will be giving the autolites a try.

Quoted so people read this twice. Dont be a ####ing "pushing the envelope" dickhole, stick with what works. NGKs. If they wont crossreference which is easy, if your at an advance auto tell the asshole to press F6 and go to the cross-reference tool. It will come up as NGK part number 2023 and they are 1.88 a piece. If they dont have em in stock, it will be there by next day or even 3PM that day if they have a local LAW office. The people at Advance Auto and other stores are dumb, I work with them on school breaks. It doesnt even cost you 8 bucks, I change out my plugs every oil change. Then again, im running untuned...gotta take care of that.

*end anger*

^^^^
At least your venting tactfully... Not all of us are dumb at the parts stores... I am going to be going to Napa or Carquest, due to the fact I live in Indy, and Carquest is capitalized in New Castle. And why do you change your plugs every oil change? That seems uneccessary, but hey, its your money and your car...

Can you give me all your old plugs. I'll pay for shipping LOL

LOL most the guys at those stores are idiots, I was being a litle general. Also I get discount so it costs me 6 dollars foor all the 4 plugs, lets say you change yours the "suggested 15k miles" I change mine about 4-5 times in that time, so lets say 5 timesx6 bucks is 30 bucks vs. 6 bucks. The 24 bucks for peace of mind is worth it, my car is daily driven so it builds up a lot of shit in DC traffic...
