Heat shield your exhaust manifold.

The manifold wouldn't be a problem, especially since mine is cast and ceramic coated. Apparently it's the gated O2 housing that gives off fan-melting, alternator-frying heat. And I think a shield between the O2 housing and radiator would seriously reduce airflow to the wastegate. Which wouldn't be a problem if I was water cooling the wastegate like I originally planned, but I had to remove the turbo coolant fitting from the block in order for my ridiculously large H1E compressor cover to fit. /sob story

I already planned to wrap the exhaust near the alternator to keep it from toasting. It's managed to last 150k miles soaked in power steering fluid and motor oil. But I'm also tempted to try borrowing an idea from Toyota:

I wired and soldered in the 2 step wiring..

I also took from the DP to the muffler off my car, so that it can be loaded onto a trailer..

Found a leaky coolant line as well,Gonna pick up more antifreeze and replace the rubber line and clamps..

Removed driverside motor mount, sent to welder to get modified, removed alternator, and moved p/s pump to get at the exhaust manifold.... Exhaust manifold was the bone stock 1g a/t manny still with the sealing ring on the turbo... Then removed the driverside motor mount bracket that bolts to the block and sent to the welder to get modified as well.... I have to removed all the studs from the head next and slap in some beautiful ss arps

Swapped in a regular 1990 ECU into my Talon to replace my Ecmlink Ecu so i can get rid of this DSM, only to find out it had a leaking and swollen cap...Fail!!!! Ahh the joys of DSM's.
Ready to start on my 91 GSX!!!

Installed my boost gauge and my car is pushing 14psi. Took it for a test drive and hit 100mph for the first time. Now I'm waiting on my bov flange to arrive so I can install it.

Not what I did, but what I am going to do. Planning on being at the garage around 8ish. Have to install all dorts of fun stuff on the car. Its been down for too long and by the time I am done today I plan on it running. There will definitely be a couple cameras involved in the experiences today.

Moved my coolant overflow so i can actually use the air vent where the smic pipe usually goes, polished the nasty lookin tial wastegate, looks good now. Moved dump tube so it doesnt rattle against radiator and lower ic pipe

Saturday I got the timing done and installed my VRSF front mount. Few other little things. Yesterday I got the wideband, ecu and boost gauge wired. Put the down pipe on and gave her a crank. Fired right up. Running lean though. Need to do a good bit of tuning.

Replaced the rear brake pads. Running on only three brakes is no bueno.
