What could have caused this tire wear?

Alright guys,
I walked outside to hop in the car this morning and found that both of my front tires have been worn down really far. :ohdamn: The real kicker is that here are less than 1,200 miles on them and when I had them put on they did an alignment so i know they were rolling straight. I just really find this strange any help on what i should look at would be helpful.

Thanks

The car has a 1.5" Eibach Pro Kit drop on it and no it doesnt have a camber kit. I ordered the tires brand new same with the ones on the rear. They put the tires on and did an alignment all at once said i had very little negative camber. Last night at work one of my buddies said something about them jokingly so i figured he was just messing with me. I dont check my tires daily, because i have never had an issue like this. Ill have to run through everything to see if i can find anything off and grab some new rubber.

Thank you guys for the quick responses. Bud do you have any suggestions on camber kits because it seems to add up and make sense, I might as well do it to prevent any future issues and ill make sure that the guy doing my alignment does his job right.

Thank you all again

The way the tire is mounted it would be positive camber. Although maybe the shop swapped it. I know some hellaflush guy around here that swap the side of the tire to get more life out of the tire. (non directional of course). I do find the rest of the tire strange, if it really was only 1,200 miles, the inside would look like new for the outside being so horrible.

Looks like toe wear. When you lower a car you get negative camber. The inside of the tires would be rubbing in that situation. You definitely have some toe wear but whatever tire you went with definitely didn't hold up for only having 1,200 miles on it. If everyone will notice the tire is basically worn out. The insides are not showing cords but it is practically bald. Could you respond with what tires you went with. I wouldn't be surprised if they were Kumho's.

See thats the strange thing is it drove straight as an arrow and really smooth, nothing to tip off that anything was going awry. That being said it weirds me out because it literally seems like the tread was peeling off piece by piece or just shearing off. Still im checking everything out to make sure nothing is bent or broken while i wait for the new tires to come in.

Yeah they gave me the paper i just have to dig through all my paperwork and find it, thats great advice. I dont really feel like putting miles on the car the way it is, it just worries me, I dont want to be that guy.

Also you think I need the camber kit for the rear even though that seems perfectly fine?

Thanks again.

That is exactly what tire they are and im pretty sure that when i go to put new tires all around im going with something better. These fit the budget at the time and seemed descent... You live, you learn.

Oh wow theres no doubt thats either an alignment issue or your rallying the S*** outta your car LOL jkin its def an alignment issue I'd bring it back to the shop with proof u only put 1200 miles on those tires and tell them they owe u new front tires and a real alignment!

Yea I had absoutely no luck with Kumho's on my 2g. Alot of their designs incorporate too soft of rubber. What did you order if you don't mind me asking. Also I would like to add that your toe can be whacked and your car can drive straight. It just depends on what the toe is at. MAP guidelines recommend you have your alignment checked once a year. Twice a year if your city/state has horrible roads (Iowa....) Plus your alignment doesn't really look like its out if barely at all. Notice there are no cords yet, you were just starting to wear in to the lining. From about the middle of the tire to the outside it is completely flat worn. The inside half is BARELY behind that. Doesn't hurt to have it double checked but I doubt there will be any adjustment.

A few degrees of negative camber wont affect the tires much. However a few degrees too much toe in will destroy tires quickly. If the toe in is the same on both sides it will drive straight and feel fine while it chews up the tires.

Yes excessive toe (in or out) will destroy tires, not camber. But when you change camber, like when lowering, toe is ALWAYS changed and must be readjusted after the camber change. Poor tires as others have said is also a big possibility as is way over inflating which tire mounting shops do to mount the tire and most NEVER reduce it back. Loose suspension parts is a lesser possibility but the car would have handled noticeably poor and you said it hasn't.
