weird ecu wire? hack job mod maybe.. pics inside

ok so i was at the junkyard and came across a 96 talon tsi that had a complete 1990 6 bolt swap in it.. it was fresh so i pulled a bunch of stuff off it one of the things being the ecu. it has some unledgable writing on the cover and something weird going on inside. its a non eprom ecu but there is what im assuming is a jumper wire going from pin d22(says max right by it) and one of them little boxes labeled c1. here are pics..

what is that wire for. is it a common mod or something?

The ECU blew the sensor ground at some point.

ok thank you. that is exactly the answer i was looking for. i was searching ecu mods and all different things but didnt think about it being a blown ground circut.
