That looks really really good, I think I want to try it on my lights, but just very slightly smoke them. It doesn't affect the light brightness or anything though?

not at all, but from what ive noticed until you get them black they look like shit, just a light smoke probably wouldnt look very good, using the VHT anyway. but even totally black you can see the lights perfectly, dont know how but i was very surprised that it didnt affct it at all

If you dont want to paint your headlights permanantly you could always use the old school GTS headlight covers that have been around for years. You can take them off if you need to! It helps at night.

I remember back in the 90's the blackouts were really popular...But then came the 100% Clear tailights, After that was tha gaudy altezza lights now its blackouts again haha.

Cops CAN ticket you for the Blackout tailights cause there is NO reflector visible when the lights are off.

If you spray that stuff on LIGHTLY will it just tint them instead of fully blacking them out??

I would like to do mine so you can still see the red with a slight tint of black.

I cant find that stuff anywere. I looked at danger zone and Oreilly's thats all we have here in town. I will check the bigger city and see but I would really like to do that. How many cans should I get?

Black on black looks Great!
Did you use a specific tutorial for this? I've smoked some before, but they didn't come out glossy and i haven't really gotten around to redoing them.

here's one article on it. How to Smoke Taillights - Nissan 350Z & 370Z Wiki

Ive seen many guides that go through so many steps, but all I did was (in order):

1. Clean taillights, etc
2. Spray coats of Nite Shade (1 can is enough for two cars)
3. Sand with 2000 grit after it dries.
4. Spray clear coat
5. Sand again with 2000 grit after it dries.
6. Use rubbing compound that gets rid of marks, scratches, etc.
7. Use polishing compound and your done :) :dsm:

Also my friend got in ebay.

That's what you get for living in Muscatine, LOL. I used to live in Des Moines but moved to Chicago for schooling. This does look really nice though, to bad I spent all my money on other stuff and now have these altezza lights. :barf: Stupid ricer days, god how I wish I had the money to reverse all my ricey decisions.

I like muscatine, Its nothing compared to my hometown of Ft myers but its not bad. 30k give or take in population. A half hour away from a decent sized city, and 3 hours from chicago 4 from St louis. it isnt that bad. I just want to go home to florida.

FL ftw :) LOL anyway here are new pics I took, I actually swapped my muffler to a dual 3.5in, so pics are kind of for muffler, but they show the tinted taillights nicely:

I will be heading to Gainsville here in a year!!!

Goin back home down to the south were I belong.

I was too lazy to order the VHT paint, so I just mixed in a little bit of black paint in some clear and sprayed my bumper lenses. They came out nice and black, but light up pretty good at night. I'll try to get some pics up later of them.

i couldnt find any from the auto stores where i live so i orderd mine from summit (fast shipping!!!). tinted the reverse lights and corners. also wet sanded them niteshades works pretty good.

Old thread but i found this and was in the same thinking process myself.

I think I am going to do something for the brake section of my taillights as well but I am not sure exactly what. I was thinking maybe biohazard or radiation symbols over the lights and the rest blacked out. But that may run me smack dab into trouble with the police.
