I was just looking for that picture. After seeing the way you did it, thats the way I'm going to do it to my EDM Tails. The reason is he painted the insides... So the actual red lens was left to be seen, you painted over the lens. When the lights are on, I am willing to bet the light output will be about the same. Just a hint.wow mines alot darker for 3 coats.

As for the center peice, I can do that for you... or if you want I'll tell you how to do it...To do it properly, to get it to match the rest of the tails perfect...

Well to be honest all i did is got a can of vht and sprayd the tint into the whole of all the bulb mouting holes so it get's inside of the lense then just shake the whole light around and make sure it looks about the same then wait about 30min and repeat the prosses...
I bet nobody thout of that...
Not bad outcome then...
For the center tail, there are two ways you can do it. The easiest way, you have to take the center piece and separate it. Then you need to take a wire brush or air sand the silver reflective paint off of the back side. Thats why the lenses look the way they do. If you get all of the paint off, it should black it out enough to look like the other two tail lights. I don't belive it will look the same tho, but will be dark.
The harder way, is to do what you did before, then tint the backside with the VHT just like how you did the tail lights, then you gotta paint the inside (black piece) a reflective chrome or silver paint to get the looks of tail lights. That way you will have a smoked center piece with the reflective paint on the inside.
Just throw it in for a few minutes on 300..... if you can see the glue, poke it with something to see if its able to be moved. If the glue is too hard, you'll #### up.
So just throw it in for a few minutes at 300, then separate the lens. Clean up the residue... you really don't need glue cause there are two huge holes in the center piece. . . So when you finish sanding and doing the rest (depends on what you plan on doing), you can put the piece back together and there you go. Its easy to separate after that.
Make sure you know where all the snap points are, there are about 4 on top and bottom and one on each end... start on one end and move on over and it should start to come apart.
That's what i'm gone try next i hope it works..
Looks good bro. I still can't believe that people are still blacking out their tails...I remember doing this 4 years ago.

o not tint over the reverse lights, any clear lenses reflects the color red, so unless you want red reverse lights do not tint. Next set up a painters table to spray at waist level. After you have your nice table set up, prep the lights with soap and water and wipe dry.
I sprayed three coats.
