Thats tight man. I was really thinking about painting my center piece but, everyone kept pestering me to tint the center piece because it looked bad without it being tinted as well. I probably paint the center piece one day. The LED idea is a good one. I might do that. Thanks

I smoked my tail lights out as well and even smoothed out the "TALON" on the back and replaced it with the "turbo" badge.

That looks good. I've seen other DSMs with their own badge. My friend has a 99 GSX with "SEX" as his badge in the center piece. Where do you get the badges made. I know they are probably like those skin it things right?

I want to see a better picture of the middle, where you shaved off "Talon" and put "turbo".

So I got my hands on a can of this stuff and went by the directions and it looks like CRAP!

I used a fog lamp as a tester and used some sand paper then cleaned it it went on alot better.

I think I might just buy the covers from Mach v.

I agree with you, that anytime someone follows the instructions on the can they never come out looking good in my opinion. Usually they look very dull and faded, almost a flat black color. I'm looking for more of a very glossy black finish, something nearly as glossy as the paint! What I've found that seems to work is follow the instructions set out here:

You can see he does some extra wet sanding and buffing of the tail lights that make them turn out pretty nice. Otherwise I have seen a mix of black and clear base paint sprayed that come out even better! That's what I will be doing in the near future!

I recently did mine, came out great. Gonna wet sand / buff them when i get a day off. I don't know what you could of done for it to come out like crap. Do you know how to lay down rattle can paint?

GT Styling Covers (90-99)

I did strip the paint of and sanded down the DOT numbers on the lenses. then I used some 600 grit or 800 I cant remember. Well anyways I used some automotive grease and stuff remover (made for auto bodies just cant remember the name) cleaned the lenses.

Let them dry and layed down about 3 coats smooth (got a couple of runs) and let it dry for about an hour. wet sanded with 1500 grit then cleaned them off and then put on a coat of clear. Lett he clear dry then wet sanded again with 1500, Sprayed agian with clear and wet sanded with 2000 grit. One looks pretty good but I just dont like the outcome on the front lenses.

Some light and dark spots on the fronts and I really dislike them alot. So when I get paid thursday I'm going to pay for the covers and when they show up I will just strip the paint off of them and leave them and put the covers on. One unisome color no light and dark spots!

I hate painting with a passion. I tried it and well I suck. So besides the covers are removable and if the cops want to be aholes about it then I can take them off.

My take on talon taillights, was going to put a different badge in the center, didnt have my dremel at the time. Either way i like it.I tryed the make the bottom almost "fang" in

You painted your reverse lights red too.
And why is "SI" the only stickers on the back bumper?
I would take them all off or get a new"E".

Couldnt get my reverse lights to work, so just painted them red, i like the look better anyways for one solid color. As for the "Si" there are a ton of honda's in my town, so i like to mess with them, not to mention it makes it so they don't know if its and Esi or Tsi. Not that it matters, they get beat either way.
One of my good friends drives a prelude, he was trying to talk me into swapping out my 420a for the honda B18 i belive it was, so this is a nice compromise for him to.

the red outs look nice though, but I would not do it on the reverse lights.

I did mine and they did not turn out good at all. I followed the instructions on the can, then I wasn't happy with how light they came out so I wet sanded all the VHT off, repeated the process with sanding and came out worse.

I think I salvaged them for now, I'm just going to get them painted professionally. However they are acceptable for the mean time.

I tinted my tail lights yesterday with VHT Night Shades after seeing a couple people do it on here. I was going for a nice blood red look not just pure black as I didn't want to get harassed by the cops. I might try some rubbing compound on it later to get it more glossy but I kinda like the flat black look right now. I put about three coats on and it was easier than I thought it would be to get somewhat of a consistent tint.

What do you guys think?

Yea I didn't have the supplies for that when I had it all ripped apart. I'll do that as soon as I have some time. They need to be more glossy

I wouldnt wetsand them before you clear them. I would clear them as is then wetsand and buff.
But....after you do that, it should be pimp. Looks like your masking wasnt very crisp but other than that, awesome.
