nice im about to start on mine but the duplicolor lacquer paint i got isnt black it's white muahahahaha i havent seen anyone with white tinted tails before, plus my car is white

where do you get that? do they have the orange/amber/jdm color?

I was wondering where I can get the center section with the car paintjob for a 2G. Do you have to paint it yourself, or does someone sell it (where to get it if they do)?

Those of you that already have it, how'd you get it? :)

Thanks,
Ed

Oh yeah, I'm from Puerto Rico. There are no 'customizing shops' with rare imports around here. :(

Just paint right over the refector. Clean the reflector, primer, sand, paint, clearcoat, and if you want, put the ECLIPSE letters back on. :thumb:

Uh... wouldn't sanding be bad on the reflector? Anyway when I blacked mine out I just cleaned the reflector and sprayed over it w/a coat and waited a couple minutes then kept doing that routine over and over till it was all black. After that a nice clearcoat will have it looking nice, no need to primer, sand, ect...

On my talon I covered the car except for the center piece, primered it (about 4 coats), put SEM Paint on it (about 7 coats), and clearcoated it (4 coats). Turned out fine.

primer then sand? i thought you should sand first, then primer. And what grit?
No, I cleaned the reflector first, then primered, then sanded lightly with 400 grit. I supposed you could go without sanding but I sanded mine and it turned out perfect.

I'm just gonna go to a paint store and ask them about it (since they are the experts), when I match the color, then I'll proceed with the cleaning (is water and soap fine?) :0

<--rolls over the floor laughing, its funny you used that "search button comment" because i am using the search and this thread hasn't helped. I really dont feel like starting a new thread hence the search

So for anyone who is curious what it looks like during the day, here it is. At night the lights are obviously brighter. The two bottom pics are when I had just done the rear tails; the upper two are of the reverse lights. The very last pic is the amber corner light curing in the sun.

Just curious why you masked the front bumper lights? They just pop out with a screwdriver. It seems like it would've been much easier to take them out.

i did that to my car like 3 years ago and it still looks great. my bumper lights are blacked out cause i don't use them at all. but yeah dude looks real good. i'm thinking of taking my headlights apart and doing the insides of them lightly...just for the smoked look :thumb:

Too bad they are illegal. The law in most states is that the brake lights have to be "red by sight, red by light".

Yours don't look red when they are not on :(

I do like it though if it wern't for the fact that people will assume you are some thug i would like it more....damn old ladies judging people.
