I did the same thing with altezzas but in black. Looks good.

The paint is Testor's model car paint. Transparent black. Go to your local hobby shop.

i always wanted to get lights like those and then paint the "CF" part red to match my car and then paint the centerpiece along with it.. anyone have pics of painted light slike that?

i was thinking about that.. but i dont think it would work to good cause the cf part is liek a cheap sticker LOL.. maybe wid the chrome ones or something heh. i want to still try that out.. maybe in a future project ;)

Get the night shades spray, you can order it from summit for like 8.00. I have my bumper lights, tails, and reverse lights all done with it.

Actually there is much else. www.importfan.com and www.carbonwerks.com both have carbon fiber replacements for the center reflector. Carbonwerks doesn't give a price though so I don't know which is cheaper.

Here's the email I got about the Carbonwerks tail piece. It's really YOUR tail piece with cf rolled on it and sent back to you:

$125 plus $12.00 return shipping. You send us your tailight section WITH THE LETTERS COMPLETELY OFF and we will custom laminate the one you send and send it back finished. You have the option of having the hole shaved or opened back up.
Sincerely,

hey guys, i appreciate all the help...but i dont have 125-250 bucks to fork out on just the center tail light piece.....i have been searching online and i found this~~~~> http://www.speedyperformanceparts.com/gt-styling_mi_eclipse_blackout_z.html i was thinking about just using the center tail light cover and just selling the other 2 pieces....does anyone have a pic of these tail light covers installed???..it would be even better if they were on a black car:)

Thanks:dsm:

Here's a follow-up. I asked the guy at carbonwerks if by "laminate" he meant a sticker...here's his reply:

No it is not a sticker, I take 2 layers of carbon fiber 2x2 twill and epoxy resin and actually laminate the carbon fiber to you stock tail light section and finish the neccessary steps to give it a show finish. The stock tail light section is stil under the carbon fiber.

..yeh, no fake stuff here at our shop! No offense to those with the carbon fiber "look" but I just can not bring myself to using carbon fiber vinyl.OMG You do have to send yours in to be done cause we don't keep them lying around. Mark yours if you'd like, it will be the same one coming back to you.;)

do you mean covers that go over the lights? or actually head and taillights that are already smoked? they do make headlight and taillights smoked out covers, but i dont think they make the actually lights themselves with a smoke tint.... however you could just do it yourself, all you need is some smoke spray tint, and some clear coat, wash the lights off first and allow them to dry, then spray light coats on each light at a decent distance, continue until you think you have the right amount of tint on them, then just clear them as soon as they dry

I think it would be better for him to use alcohol to clean the headlights/taillights before he sprays them This way ALL of the dirt will come off and the smoke tint wont crack or peel.

just my .02

Probably use alcohol or acetone to clean the lights. You might also want to do some light wetsanding with a high grit paper. This should help the tinting stick a little better.
