alright i just got my car back from the shop, i had them put on a complete head i purchased, with hks camshafts and unorthodox camgears.
the reason i put the car in the shop was because it would smoke like crazy, white/blue smoke. smoke durting idle and crazy when i step on the gas.

alright so i get my car back today and start it up and no smoke at idle so im like great. so im driving down the road and i notice everytime i shift a puff of smoke comes out like bob marley is smoking a joint in my exhaust. someone please tell me what the F is going on. im very very pissed.

Refill your coolant tank. Drive the car around, and make note how fast the coolant disappears. If the tank is empty after one trip, then you know your head gasket is done. If the coolant level stays pretty much the same, then its not the coolant that your seeing in your exhaust, its oil. I would say its your headgasket, but your compression test results say otherwise. If your coolant level stays level, most likely its your valve seals...which are a complete PITA to change.

alright well i took off my turbo today and then the 02 housing came off. i took these pics. i also took a pic of my 02 sensor can anyone tell me if this is bad? also i noticed i have alittle bit more shaft play on the 02 housing side.
about 5 months ago i remember i took my turbo apart, i got bored so i decided to see the guts of one before i put it on. is it possible that i might not have tightend it down correctly and thats causing my smoke??

i took the turbo apart even more and this is what i found.
im guessing the oil spillage is normal due to the oil being in the turbo right.
do i need to take it apart any further?

Is your car losing coolant? This will tell you alot about the problems you are having. I don't tthink we can tell by pictures of a disassembled turbo if its seals are blown.

FWIW: My friend has a Saab that smoked HEAVILY. I mean, like crazy plooms... looked like you were starting up a tractor when it'd be boosting. It seems that you have the same exact problem(s) and your head was supposedly redone. The Saab head was just rebuilt to race spec and the smoke still persisted. This lead my friend and I to trace it back to the turbo, and after a GT28r was thrown on, it doesn't smoke the slightest bit. Before spending almost $900 locally on the ball bearing turbo though, we rebuilt the stock T25. But because of an unrelated problem (the generic blow off not opening when it was supposed to, thus sending excess boost straight back into the compressor wheel :notgood: ) the rebuilt T25 was not able to be tested. Like I said, that was just personal experience, for what it's worth.

yeah sounds like my car. looks like somone put a smoke gernade in my exhause when i boost.

yes i was having coolent lose issues.

im going to put the turbo back together, everything nice and tight and then put it back on and see what happens. i highly doubt its my piston rings or hg, hg is BRAND NEW.
i guess ill see what happens...

Try pressure testing your coolant system. If pressure drops and you dont see any leaks, then it might be your headgasket (coolant and or oil leaking in combustion chamber or coolant leaking into your oil pan. check your oil for coolant aswell. Or you could have had an air bubble that escaped and lowered your coolant level from the head replacement.

good luck.

Looks like you were definitely losing oil from the looks of the turbine, Is the oil stain wet?

Wow i fixed my problem,
to make the story short, about 5 months ago i tightend the wastegate acuator, you know made the arm shorter and i remember i put it really really tight, well i made it back to normal and took it for a spin last night but i couldnt tell,
well i just got back from the movies right now and drove it kinda hard to see if it would smoke and NO more smoke.
now all i gotta fix is that damn idle sensor, p0505 or something like that. probably take it to the dealer to get a quick fix

The wastegate actuator being too short/long will only affect boost level problems (if it was stuck open, you would have trouble building boost). I highly doubt this was the source of the smoke...doesn't make sense.

yeah i get what your saying. im kind of stuck on what went wrong you know.
i know that when i took my turbo apart some of the bolts were loose. maybe that was it.
i also took off my tubular exhaust manifold and put on my stock manifold. hmmm im stumped but not pissed off anymore.. haha

Yeah maybe it was just an issue with the turbo. Glad you have it fixed. Oh btw, despite all the rice I think your car looks bad ass =) Good luck in Iraq, keep your shit wired tight at all times :thumb:

WELL i took my car to work today, seemed fine this morning ,(or maybe it was becaue i couldnt see shit) well on the way home i decided to go wot in third and POOF my problem is still there. thought it was gone but i guess not.
it doesnt smoke if i baby it, shift at low rpms.
but something right when i start up my car ill will smoke like a banche, just for like 10 seconds then go away,
but whenever i boost or start to boost i see the smoke starting to come out?
so now im back to square ONE,,
i think im just gunna sell my car and buy something else, its really getting to me....

oh yeah i filled my coolent up 2 days ago and i checked it again today and its close to where i filled it up to.?????

maybe i should go buy a 2006 eclipse

When you took apart the turbo and put it back together, did you rebuild it with new seals/gaskets? Or did you just put it back together to test it out? If so, I would suggest installing new turbo seals and such because if all that oil was caked on, obviously there is a leak somewhere. This burning oil is most likely causing your smoke.
