I had a member that follows my Instagram account use a tool like this so I asked if he would mind telling me what components to use and he replied. Thanks T-man! All of this stuff cost under $120 and all came from Amazon. It works WAY better than I expected so I thought I should share a short video of it on here. But the way, T-man said he got the idea from Jafro, but I haven't seen all of his videos. I just want to say this is a great tool for do-it-yourselfer's and is already showing me where I need to do a bit more lapping for a good seal on my fresh head.
This video was done with NO valve springs on at all, so you can see how good the valves seal, comparatively.
This can be used on any head, just make a seal the correct size for the head port. I made 2 templates, one for DSM's and one for most Domestic stuff. My son wants to see how good his LS heads were sealing, so we will be testing it on his heads today also. :thumb:

This is very good. Might have to do a setup like this as im about to do my actual cylinder head (again) not bought head which i did and found helicoils in. So this will be a great way to check

It really is super easy Bobby. The idea just never came to my head. It was "Christmas" for me. ROFL
Vacuum pump, not too much CFM
1/4" Ball valve (6.4mm)
Generic Vacuum gauge/fp tester kit
Extruded PVC sheet
Sticky back foam.
Cheap refrigerant charge hose
Tap for the nipple that comes in the Vacuum gauge kit.
That's about it. It works very well.

Nice and simple does it well sometimes! Genius things we pickup along the way, every day is a school day and learning. JUST the way i like it

Never ever to old to learn new stuff! :thumb:

I had a variance on one set of exhaust valves and relapped those two (#2 cylinder) and here are the Before and After results. The rest of the head tested out really good (intake side also).
Now I am sure that after slapping closed a few hundred times in a few seconds at first startup would have got the same results as that cylinder was sealing, just not as well.
But for the curious, photos.......
