I'm on a stock 6 bolt with a big16g turbo that is unturned, I use this as a daily driver, I do tease it every once in a while never wot, now my question is should I put the stock 14b back on it to daily drive it until I get enough money to tune it right on that turbo? Still on stock 450cc injectors, aftermarket fmic and intercooler piping, and a 2.5 inch exhaust.

The limiting factor is the stock injectors and at WOT, you're taking a risk by not monitoring your knock, afr, and injector duty cycle...

You will be perfectly fine driving around if you stay out of WOT.

I'm stock, 450's with a B16G and this has been the setup since I bought my Laser 7 yrs ago and with no problems....and a DD vehicle and no WOTS either....along without any of that monitoring junk to worry about.

Just keep the thing in factory tune and you'll be fine.

I'd leave good alone until the B16G blows up. At least, you got a spare turbo at hand.

Did you just buy this car? I wouldn't trust a single thing about a car with an aftermarket fmic and big16G turbo, but stock injectors.

Go ahead and go WOT, you'll hit fuel cut before anything bad happens.

Assuming the MAF and everything else really is stock.

It will either leave parts scattered on the street, or feel like it did. :D

If you leave the 16G on there, I'd say Buy a good engine management system like DSMlink, and an innovate wide band gauge, to tune it all the right way. And while your at it you Might as well get an upgraded in tank fuel pump, and some good cheep used 550cc evo injectors
[or some 750cc injectors] and you will be able to safely up the boost over the stock 450cc ones.
if you don't have the money to do this yet start budgeting it.

And don't just guess how lean or rich your car is running, we have no idea how good or bad, the old injectors are on your dsm, or how good the stock tune will be or is, anyone on here will just be guessing how long your cars turbo will be together, based on what their cars have exhibited.

And Even if your parts are stock You have to remember age will add wear to already possibly abused parts, depending on the cars history or how well it was taken care of, weather or not there are any boost leaks.

there just are too many variables to take into account here to really say you won't have any issues running a 16G.

but if you must drive with the 16G on it, I recommend you keep doing what you're doing, and don't really pound on the car till you have a better idea what is all going on.
hope this helps.

No I've had the car ever since last year, the guy that had it before me spun a rod bearing in it and scratched up the cylinder #2 crabkshaft , I just got it running in around November, I've hit fuel cut once in it that was mainly why I wanted to ask this questio.

Yeah I've been trying to get link for a while to learn how to tune it and play with it, especially now that I actually wanna build the old motor and see if I can get an awd one going. It has a walboro 190 fuel pump in it.

Just don't be going wot and you will be good. This can be very difficult:pray:

And if i

And if i do want to hit wot, would i juat get the 14b back on it?
I think you will be okay with going wot with the 16g at factory boost level the real danger as stated above is doing it without the ability to monitor air fuel ratio as this can be catastrophic and and too your car may feel slower until properly tuned.

boost gauge shows 9lbs of boost, once in a while it creeps to 10 but thats the most i have the boost controller on.

If anything get you a wide band guage just to see where you are with your a/f reading. This give you peace of mind.

Run a signal line from a boost source straight to the Wastegate and make you know there is nothing aftermarket messing with your computer and you'll be fine. Like I half assed said before you'll hit fuel cut IF the computer sees too much airflow, it's a failsafe, provided everything computer wise is stock as Calan said. If you can't tell what's modified and what's not well I guess come back and ask more questions.

B16G was stock on a Galant VR4 4G63 with 510's-and what's in my Laser.
Stock HP was 225 with this setup in that vehicle.
Since you have (and with me) have stock 450s, we also have the ECU that matches with the 450's. Thus, with a B16G, the turbo isn't achieving its full potential, and where it doesn't matter that you either a stock FP or that Wally 190 pushing the fuel to the front, it's the 450's and the matching ECU that is holding you back. If you want to romp things up, you'll need to increase injector size and put some engine management on that ECU.
True, the original setup was with the 14B
