I guess I dont, I havent taken her to redline in 3rd gear, id be flying. Im gunna have to take her on the highway on ramp

Your posts keep motivating me on completing my build. Just a few more things to get her ready. Twinscroll mani on Hx35 lets see what i can squeeze out of it.
All of the frustration and hard work is worth it man, nothing puts a smile on my face like feeling the engine I built and tuned put my head into the back of the seat. I think im tapped out with fuel though.....All the data says my setup is only good for 60lbs/min fuel wise. Maybe im wrong but my duty cycle is in the 90s on stock fuel pressure

Going to machine shop tmrw..... high compression e85 motor. I honestly don't know how fast I'd be going balls out into redline in 3rd gear.....guess we'll find out

He probably meant how quick :)

AMS, I'm concerned that you're going too fast with your build (no pun intended). Slow down (pun intended this time) and just enjoy the setup for a while.

E85 is inconsistent in its purity

Unless the ethanol content is dropping below ~E50, there's not much of a difference as it relates to how the fuel performs and resists detonation. There are a lot of other things that affect grade, but all other things being equal, E50 and E85 will perform in most setups pretty much the same. I've seen zero difference between E70 and E85 in my own personal car. I actually dyno'd on a batch of E70.

If it helps, I believe Kevin Jewer stated he doesn't use flex-fuel because his car never performed differently while on e85. Of course, he may have been talking about his drag car so I don't know if that would carryover to the usual dsmer.

Amsrn13 you ever plan on going to the track? Why build another faster motor if your scared to redline 3rd in what you have now. I say throw slicks/drag radials on it and see what it can do. Bump the fuel pressure up and let her rip.

I'm not afraid, the problem is space .... I'm planning on being at Lebanon valley in June, that's the closest track to me. Doing a third girl pull on the street is reckless at least we're I live.

I have some bad news guys.....looks like the talon is going to be out of commission for awhile. Last night I was doing my routine checks and I figured what the hell, let's do a leakdown test. So the motor was cold and I pumped each cylinder up to 120psi at tdc. 4-3-2 were good. So at the very last moment number 1 after hitting 120 released a few air bubbles in to my cooling system. The car isn't overheating or pushing coolant but looks like my headgasket isn't sealing. The real question is did this just happen or has this been like this from the getgo? The car doesn't smoke either :idontknow:

Doesnt push coolant at all and I haven't tested it again no. But I'm loosing a little coolant so

How tight did you end up going on your L19's? You could always go around it with a torque wrench and make sure it is still where you torqued it to. Mine is on hella tight but that's just me. I new I was going to be running high boost so I decided to really hold the head down good with my L19's.

Did you check the head and block before install? You could try a hks headgasket. Jake montgomery swore by them. Or... o ring the motor and be done with it haha
Thats funny you said that, i just ordered a hks headgasket, i was considering having the head oringed. The block and head were both milled down. Im really considering a oring setup. Dont know much about them thouhj

I went to 100 ftlbs, and I retorqued them to 105 after a heat cycle. They are tight as shit......The head wasnt going anywhere, Im thinking the block may have never sealed. Im gunna upgrade the clutch while im in there.
