Get your tune close and let the computer check all that stuff, like I saw in your video. Do you have your knock sensor set to turn on your CEL and blip your boost gauge on when it reads 2* of knock or more so you know to let out of it? That is about all I have time to check and then I look at my logs, just like you are doing, to see how things went.

I have two bright led bulbs mounted to my steering column. One red and one green. The green one is controlled with the fps output to operate as a shift light. The red one is tied into the CEL so it flashes for knock. I got the idea from a member here, don't remember who, but it works awesome. Just keep your eye on the road if you see a green flash, shift. See red, let out.
 
I customized my dash to include a red shift light towards the end of my tach. Manually adjustable with a knob by my MBC. They do come in handy for just the reason you said.

My knock is set at 2 yes, I'm not seeing any knock, maybe 0.4 here and there. Nothing to speak of. The cars running great. That's a good idea. I try to watch the dash, it's getting harder though. I might put a light like you guys did.
 
Remember theres knock retard and rawknock.
0.4 degrees of knock retard = 1.14 counts of knock, or roughly, 1 knock count.
.4 knock retard is good. Your never gonna have 0 all the time. I try not to go over .7 knock retard

yah im occasionally getting 0.4 knock retard. The knock my sensor was seeing before was from the meth........its was making my car run to rich I believe. I think i actually need to lean the injectors and up the timing to optimize the meth injection. The minute I turned it off, the knock went away. Im not running pump gas anymore. I dont need to drive this car daily so i dont care. Its worth the extra money. Its either gunna be race gas or e85. I couldnt believe how much better the car runs on race gas. The motor woke right up.
 
Where you get your race gas from snd what you run? Im on pump with meth but not really like it. Im always worried about the pump failing. I told you awhile back that you were to rich on meth injection. You were prob getting rich knock

I've tried ms100 , Sunoco 98 and vp c16, right now I'm on a mix of 100 and c16 . I have a gas station that sells jugs. I don't see the point in running pump. With meth you are taking a risk esp if your not running direct port to each runner. I believe my last motor I was getting varying amounts of methanol into each cylinder and one cylinder was getting hotter than the others. I'm gunna use the meth to cool my intake charge in the summer. I'm 20 minutes away from an e85 pump so that's next

Increasing timing advance and lean out the mixture should create more knock not less. Right?
 
Once you guys get a taste of E, you'll be hooked. No more meth spraying like I did too and tons more timing. Once you go there, the only time you will run any gas is to just get you there or in between stations. My car is entirely a different beast on E so thats what I feed her, Corn!!!
 
we will see. once i get 93 dialed in maybe i will get some bigger injectors and corn and see if I can get to 400 hp without going boost crazy.
 
What is so crazy is I was running maybe 8* timing on gas with meth. It felt real good. I switched to corn and run over 18* and don't have to supplement my charge with my AEM kit. It feels totally different now. So much more power if I give it the timing and fuel it wants on Corn and no knock. I watch my logs for any decrease in power if I make any changes to the tune. Just what I'm doin tho.
 
I agree with u. E is magical. I'm pushing the limits on my little 16g and getting great power! Mid to high teens of timing advance and low to mid 20s in boost pressure. She pulls hard. So hard I have to rebuild my driveshaft. :ohdamn::idontknow:
Ive been building cars since I was 16, started with boosting hondas....Im 30 now and its the first time running race gas. I cant believe how much better the car responds on this fuel, I cant imagine on ethanol. Race gas is incredible......in my mind if your building a car to go fast, why cheap out on the fuel? Its like the guy building a race engine and running it off of a maf translator or safc.
 
How much timing are you able to run on race gas? E85 is 105 octane and no knock since it is corn and I don't have to run my meth injection. I am currently running 21* at 8500 on a 10:1 compression motor on 36+ lbs of boost is why I run E85 plus its 2 buks a gallon instead of 8-10 around here. I have ran avaition fuel and race fuel but I still saw knock. That all went away when I switched and I haven't ran any type of gas in over 2 years because the car wants "the good stuff" LOL. These are just my experiences over the past 3-4 years and I've been slapping cars together for the last 40 years.

I think that sounded all bitchy. My point is if you get a chance to try Ethanol then do it, I think you will be amazed again like you are with race fuel. I like what you're doing, it's inspiring to those that hope to mod and really step up power levels, that'a why I was saying....try E and why I was following your quest to really make some power :)

What I meant was the proof is in the pudding. Ethanol has a definite edge over race gas. What I was implying was people building a race engine and running 93 in it. I don't see the point honestly. If your building a reliable daily .... sure. I just don't see the point in risking it for 100 dollars. The motor came alive with race gas. I can't wait to try ethanol
