I put my car back together and took it around the block and it wont pull, it makes a loud whining sound like a supercharger. No smoke or anything. and link said my intake temps reached 150* and I brought it back home to cool down.. Whats wrong now?....

Pull the intake tube off and check for shaft play/free rotation in the turbo.

Will the rebuild kit I posted work?
Also I noticed that the balance marks on the wheels and the shaft were not lined up whne I put it back together. Could that effect it or be some of the cause of my problem now?

yes just now, Nothing. I usually do one once evry 2weeks also. Im leaning more towords my turbo dying...

How did you perform your boost leak test? U can make your own tester with a bicycle pump and some pvc from home depot. Is your wastegate preloaded properly and functional?

Ill sell u a evo3 tdo5 ^_^

Not to long after I got the car I bought a 4" Plumbing Cap from home depot and drilled a hole in the top and put in an air valve. I hooked a big craftsman air compressor to it and did the BLT at 35psi. Found nothing. Im just ordered the rebuild kit I posted and im going to just rebuild it temporarly. I dont plan on running this hx35 for to long anyway. Just have no choice right now as funds are really limited. Wastegate is Set the way it was before I took the turbo off the car. I want to stay with an hx35 or something similar. I like the street manners and power band it has

Will it work? Probably.

Should you use Chinese eBay parts in your turbo? Probably not.

Think it will work temporarly? Im going to get a solid built hx35 but funds are very limited at the moment. I just ordered that kit to hopefully have my car running untill I can get another one (first chance I get to be able to get one I will get it) But this is the only car I have

Agreed, also do u have a boost gauge? Is it building any boost at all?

I do have a boost gauge. It hits 0 and stays there. The rpms climb but with no pull or power at all. It sounds like a supercharger but rides like a N/A. I took the turbo back apart today and noticed massive shaft play. Im not sure if the balancing marks are lined up and not sure if that would affect anything like that anyway

That sucks mine did the same thing yesterday. Good luck to you. Take some pics of the rebuild kit if you can.

Hell yeah it sucks haha. Ok ill take pics of the kit, just ordered it today so should be here tuesday or so I hope. Hopefully I got lucky and found a "decent" kit atleast

Not for $35 you didn't.

A few months back I ordered a H1E CHRA from that company for a friend of mine to use on his 2G (low-budget). Three weeks after the install, the entire webbing broke out of the center of the thrust plate, trashing both wheels. I just got the replacement CHRA a few weeks ago, and this time I tore it down and installed an Genuine Holset parts kit into it. Just waiting for him to get the turbo off and I'll be sending the junk CHRA back for warranty...thank god there is one.

The CHRA and wheels aren't too bad-looking, but apparently the internals are garbage.

Good luck!

That sucks..:barf: I will get a genuine rebuild kit as soon as I can. Im going to call a few local disea shops in the morning and check prices. I just needed something temp for now to get my car running again. What do legit kits usually go for?

Also, would I be able to reuse any parts that I already have?
They look decent exept the bearings, oil seals and thrust collar

If you have a lot of shaft play than i would assume that the wheels have been rubbing the housings and are out of balance. I wouldn't expect it to last to long that way even with genuine parts.

Would a 20g bolt up to my car? And what is the performance difference between an hx35 and a 20g if there is any?

IT depends on what manifold and o2 housing you are running. IF your holset is running a bolt on bullseye housing than the 20g will bolt right on (assuming that is is a mhi 20g). The supply line, drain line, lower intercooler pipe and intake pipe will need to be modified though.

So I should probably just stick with getting another hx35..

$95-$125, but...

Bryan's right- if there's any evidence of the wheels rubbing the housings then there's a good chance that one (or both) will be out of balance, and there's also a risk of the shaft being bent. This would wipe out a new parts kit, either Genuine or Chinese, in about 3 seconds.

In that event you'd still have options of buying a new CHRA or just finding another good HX35 for a fair price.

I might just try to get ahold of another hx35 and save myself the trouble of have constint problems with this one
