i wansent exaqctly sure where a project thread should go, but since i am new, nobody knows me i figured it can go in the newbie section. i will update this thread regurlaly with new pics.

my cars current state its sitting under a portable car tent the collapsed from all the snow. there is no motor in it and its basically stock.

i am using the galant 2.4 block. i was in the middle of doing a 5spd conversion when i started putting on the 1g 63t head. the car is basically converted to fdw 5spd, eventhough i took it apart to put int he xtd (yeah, i know) clutch kit. but i changed my mind and decided to "try" the awd conversion.

my ultimate gold for this car once everytihng is built is 600whp awd. as for right now (this year) i just want to get it running smoth with the stock 64/63t awd. ill be doing most of the custom fabercation myself. this includes building a nice topmount turbo manifold. i have a miller syncrowac 200 tig welder.

last week i picked up a 95 eagle talon tsi auto to get mist of trhe parts i need. i know the tranny, tcase and rear end are different. i actually want to build a different motor and buy a build drivetrain. so i am looking into getting the gears in this rear end changed and selling the auto tranny and t case. but there are still a bunch of stuff i can use from this car like gas tank, rear sub frame, dual pistong calipers, i needed the whgole front suspension to convert to 5 lug

my galant on cut springs. it actually drove pretty good, but i am going with a new setup when its done

in boston they are a dime a dozen. this is actually my 4th one not including the parts car. i had a 94 ls, 97 ls this 97 es, and i just got a 95 ls. so right now i have 2 galants.

the project has been on hold be now that it is getting warm its on and cracking again. i finally took the awd talon apart. all i took that the front and rear suspension, rear end, rear sub frame and gas tank. i decided to pull the motor back apart, bore it .030 and put piston, rods and bearings. i am gonna deck the block and head, and get a cometic gasket. maybe some cams, everythnig else will be stock.

i decided to stay fwd until i get everything running good, but i am still working on the awd stuff. i want to send my tranny and rear end out to get build to handle 700whp. for now ill use my stock galant fwd 5 spd tranny and ebay special xtd clutch. looking for some place close to boston thatsa good with rebuilding dms bottom ends

Thats pretty boss man. I am also doing a AWD conversion, but its on me 91 talon that was N/T automatic. Its a lotta work, but rewarding. Heres mine http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/drivetrain-tech/294385-so-begins-1g-awd-conversion.html.

Is the rear suspention the same as a 2G Dsm? That will probably be your biggest hurdle if it isn't. I would get working on that part, you can still drive it with the rear end under it but no AWD tranny or driveshaft. Take lots of pictures, I would love to have an AWD gallant but VR4s and GSX's are to expensive

Hey, I'm curious to see how this project is coming along. I am planning on doing the same conversion as soon as I can sell my 1g to pay for it. Have you done any of the AWD conversion work to it yet? How are you planning on running the exhaust? I've been told the center channel will be mostly filled by the drive shaft.

Check my gallery and my home page link. The link goes to my build thread. No track numbers since I don't drag race and haven't finished tuning the car yet (waiting on a new wideband controller). I can tell you that it was worth all the work. It corners great, is very stable doing 80 on the interstate, seats five and has a mafia-sized trunk.
