Ok i have no idea about anything that has to do with tuning my car. I have been reading different threads on here and have a couple questions. First, if I get a dsm link set up will that replace the safc or do i need both. I am just wondering because i dont want to waste my money on the safc if I am going to need the dsmlink any way. Will the dsmlink be the onlything that I need to control the functions of my car and help me tune it also.THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP

DSMLink does everything so you don't also need an AFC. However you will need a socketed EPROM ECU if you don't already have one for the DSMLink to work.

No you don't need a saf-c and DSMLink. When I buy my tuning software I am going for DSMLink. Best tuning device next to AEM EMS, but that is too hard to use and to hard to install from what I heard. DSMLink doess everything S-AFC does plus much more user friendly, and has much more opytions. All you will need for DSMLink is a labtop, and a EPROM ECU, but you should have one already since you have a 1995.

Hopes this helps. Stay boostin

Enough said there, I agree.

The DSMLink is all you will need to TUNE, however you will want to have WB02, EGT and probably a MAP sensor. The DSMLink will let you do the actual tuning, but it never hurts to get as much accurate info (via different devices/sensors/guages) as possible to make good assessments and tuning decisions. You definitely don't need the S-AFC though. Have fun.

Dsm Link is a GREAT tool for tunning, but there are other cheaper ways of doing it. getting your hangs on a socketed ECU + the DSM link can be pricy. It all depends how much power and money you have... if your running 400+ hp, I would go DSMlink. You can just get a logger and a Apexi S-afc... thats what I'm running. Works great. Although you are limited to the injector size... which claims to be 720 injectors. A wideband and EGT gauge wil also be needed. Its important in getting the TRUE air/fuel and o2 sensor raitos. The EGT gauge will make sure that your not running hot internally... which means that timing/lean mixture is present. This company called Zeitronix has a wideband kit that +70 dollars will get you the EGT probe. Everything is like 325. You can also get a cool LCD screen for it... but people claim its shit.

GOOD LUCK

DSMLink is truely a buy-once-never-have-to-buy-again.

What are your horsepower goals?

DSMLink is good for stock setups all the way to 9.xx sec cars. If you get dsmlink get the largest injectors you can afford (i.e. if 1000cc injectors are the same price as 750cc injectors, get the 1000cc injectors.)

If you never plan on going over 300 whp I say that DSMLink is a waste. But if that is what you want now and figure you're probably want more later, then dsmlink will make your life alot easier and more fruitful. dsmlink is great for the ameture tuner that has a decent idea about how to tune but not experienced. An experienced tuner can take a dsm to 400whp with an SAFC. Are you very experienced?

DSMLink makes tuning fun not a hastle. But is expensive considering that you'll have to get an eprom. But you need to do what you're doing right now: make a decision about it before you purchase any tuning/logging equipment or fuel upgrades. Because it allows you to use any size injectors you want with ease, it has the best logger in the business, it allows you to use the better 2g maf, and ver3.0 (likely to come out in april) will have direct plug in for the gm maf which reads higher airflow than even the 2g maf and allows blowthru setups to be run properly. There's way more but you'll have to read about it... I think it is worth the 550 bones for what it offers for tuning and other amenities (NLTS, antilag, nitrous/water/alky control, two stage boost control, revlimit control, diagnostics/sensor control & manipulation, more and more). And i think the 190+ bones for an eprom is worth the very good logger you get incorperated into the setup.

As I've said before, I wish I had bought DSMLink first. I need bigger injectors now, and i have a maf translator that i should sell and get the upgraded dsmlink this April.
