Trying to test coolant for exhaust gasses but...

So i Got grey smoke this morning before work while idling shut the car off let it set for a minute and restarted it ... no smoke .I Drove it to work and the first time i boosted kinda hard to see if it would smoke and it did a good little bit for about 5 seconds then it went away and only did it once. It doesn't over heat unless im getting on it for a while, but not from normal driving. Im running straight water right now since doing my Thermostat but just till payday.l Turbo is not blowing oil into the IC piping so i am ruling that out for now. Now im trying to do a Test that tests the coolant for exhaust gasses but the Thermostat housing is blowing out so much steam i cant do the test. PLEASE any ideas??? HGasket was done not to long ago by a garage but who knows if they did it right haha . i have never overheated except it got pretty warm the other day "competing" with a Trans am on the Highway but thats it . but i drove around all day today and no issues exept the smoke i got this morning for a few mins. no overheating or anything. PLEASe any ideas would be appreciated.

Just because you have grey/white exhaust does NOT mean you have a BHG. You may want to take the fact of a turbo oil leak or (oil rings) going and that is why you do NOT overheat.Take all your facts down and work you way by removing one at a time. Try a BLT & get back with us.

I am stressing so bad ha ha! but ya i will run more tests and then ill get back to you thanks! I let it idle for a while today to do the Coolant test and no smoke or anything so im hopeful. I am just worried cause when i first got my MBC i over boosted a few times up to around 25 -27 for a second so im worried i lifted for or something but it have been driving it for a while with no issues till today? oh also after i let the car cool down just a little bit i started it up real fast and did the test before the coolant got all the way hot and the liquid did seem to turn greenish

Drove a bunch today and no issues. No smoke at start-up or idle no overheating. so im just going to knock on wood and hope it was just some dumb rare occurring thing. boosts hard and no knock and solid compression. i tested it a couple weeks ago and was all good. will keep updated though.

Not getting smoke still yet but, now its starting to make a slight super charger sound and i know what that means... haha Bummer!!! just wont boost at all till pay day... ya right.

Do a cylinder leak down test. It will tell you all you need to know about the condition of the engine and pin point the problem.

Still no over heating but still loosing water or smoke again, but since i am still running straight water now since i am pouring some in it every few days and wouldn't be able to afford all this coolant ha ha... i wonder if the water is just evaporating away? since its just water i bet its evaporation into the over flow? but now the turbo doesnt want to spool well so i will be buying an new turbo friday PM me if you have one for under 400 ,td05 flange Preferably 16g, but i may just get a cx racing turbo they get pretty good reviews. i think my new oil feed line fitting is what killed my turbo

Your not seeing the coolant out the exhaust because like you said its just water now so when it burns in the cylinder its just vapor so you wont see it. Your oil still look normal or is it over full and looks like milk chocolate?

I don't seem to be getting any water in my oil. and i have small leak on my oil return line so i am constantly topping of the oil but its never too high and oil pressure seems to be good although im still using my factory gauge so i dont actualy know what the actual numbers are. Thanks for the replies!!!! Your the man! but ya turbo is definatley fried. It doesnt even want to boost at all but i am babying it. Im in the process of buying another but cant get it till friday.
