Transmission and timing belt help for newbie

So bought my first dsm that I wanna start building on. It's a 95 GST. Here is my current problems with it. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

1 ) #auto tranny has a leak on the side cover and it's a pretty goodin. Do I have to drop the tranny to open it up to replace the seals? If that's the case is there a cheap way to seal it effectively until I can get the work done?


2). The timing belt is wandering toward the motor and is rubbing. It now has a rub scar on it and I wanna change it out before something crazy happens and gets spendy. Can anyone think of why this may be happening?

Are all the pullies tight. It sounds like something moves around. Kind of like a loose wheel. Is the timing belt straight. On vfaq there is a write up on how to change the belt.

Ok I will check that out. Yea it all felt tight. The mechanics that did the inspection said there may be a balancer plate that was taken off and not put back on. Was he full of shit and just trying to get 550 bucks to replace my water pump and belt.
