k well here is the low down. my old belt had some teeth missing and could have slipped anytime so we decided to change it.we have everthing off but now we cant get the new timing belt on we tryed.three belts form advance and oreilys.then i notcied the auto tensinor was still on took it off and now its frozen wont compress. so any info would help and help with timing marks.plus i am newbie frist timing job dont have the cash to get it done by a shop.also the plug is still in so ### anyone that has change a timing belt i need HELP!!! ASAP.also does would anyone know if you can clean a iac motor becasue that is causing a idle surge but it is also dirty and like i said dont have the funds as it is 325 for a new one thanks guys.

You should get a new tensioner but you can compress the old one in a bench vise if you need to. Do it slowly though! Then line up the hole in the pin with the hole in the housing and lock it in the compressed position by sliding a small allen wrench through the holes. Make sure the allen wrench is poking out on the side that does not bolt up against the block.

ISC's are cheaper than that, you just need to know where to look: DSMISC

yea am getting both parts XiKeiyaZI hooked me up big time.cant thank you enough buddy.but if the tensioner was still on then thats. why the timing belt wouldnt fit i am gusssing.also we didnt remove the plug yea i know we are a bunch of noobs.but when it has to be done and no cash.then i guess you gotta do what you gotta do :ninja:

You Might want to wait to try and replace that tensioner though, I reused mine thinking it would be fine. I compressed it in a vice and everything but it after putting it back on with a new belt after about 500 miles it gave out and relaxed the belt and I ended up with bent valves. The tensioner should not be that expensive.
