So I've had my DSM for 3 years now. its ALWAYS been sitting sense i've had it, and no not becuase I don't put money on it or want to fix it. quite the contrary!!! I dump money on this freakin thing it just never stays running right!

I got the car back Monday, and todays Friday; well today it already started lagging again. Isn't running right. and believe it or not that was the longest its ran right sense I've had it!

anyways I've replaced the vacuum lines twice, with no success. whenever I push my car, the freakin vacuum lines just fly! I mean they just come loose on their own! I'll notice lag and bad idle so i'll pull over, pop my hood, and sure enough I'll see a few lines just dangling there.

Same thing happened today on my way home from work. after hooking the vacuum lines back up and getting back in the car, the car wasn't riding right anymore :sosad: its doing what it was doing about 5 months ago! the problem back then was that a fuel injector went out. so I had them ALL replaced with brand new ones.

Can loose vacuum lines cause blown/bad injectors???

Your vaccum lines are flying off?? I've heard of intercooler piping blowing off but not a vaccum line

Obviously if in 3 years you haven't gotten your car running properly you're throwing money at the wrong things.

Is ALL the maintenance up to date? Are you putting hose clamps on your vacuum lines? I've seen quite a few people taken absolute trashed DSM's and with maintenance and knowing to replace things have come out with quite the reliable dsm.

only line i can think of that would blow off is the one on the bov. maybe your lines are too big and not tight enough

I would guess this. Buy the right sized lines AND zip-tie them to their nipples.
Based on your profile, your car is mostly stock. I don't see how your vacuum leaks could ruin your injectors, maybe someone else will know.

Yea they just freakin fly off when I run it a little hard! and I've replaced some a couple times already. I go as small as I can but still big enough for them to fit on the fittings right.

Ima go take a pic real quick and show you guys which ones fly off and what not.
brb

if you have an adjustable bov turn it a little softer and also do the hose clamp and see if that holds it on there

actually no my BOV hose has never been one of the ones that come off

heres a list of the things I've replaced brand new!
alternator
fuel pump
fuel regulator
fuel lines
fuel filter
fuel injectors
ALL the belts
water pump
idler and tensioner pully
radiator cap
thermostat
vacuum lines
Timing and balance shaft belts(twice in 5 months because the first set snapped)

is that not enough maintainance??
although I'm getting a new radiator this comming week becuase my resavior keeps spitten out water and I have to keep filling my radiator up daily. so its needed

Have you done a compression/leak down test to make sure that all that maitanence isn't going to waste on a tired out motor? That seems to be the path everyone goes down, lots of the regular maintanence and then the motor goes out. I always compression test every dsm I buy before buying it to know the strength of the motor.

You've definitely got a good list, but now you need to fix things before they break. Start off with getting all your hoses tight, and on. Boost leak test and make sure the motor's solid. A compression test should be in order if it hasn't been done recently as well.

Your plugs and wires all good? What fuel are you using? What's all upgraded on the car? Any type of logger? How does the engine bay look? Clustered or clean?

Edit: Wow that took me a long time to type. Too many distractions.

Yea the shops I've takin it too have done compression tests on it and they acutually whined up really surprised cuase of how crappy my engine bay looks and yet the engine is actually surprisingly strong, like it if were replaced with a fresher one at one point.

ok here we go. pics of my engine bay!

<a href="http://s306.photobucket.com/albums/nn251/2006pup/?action=view&amp;current=2252011048.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn251/2006pup/2252011048.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

ok so here, the circled ones are the ones that usually just come off! the red ones never but one time one of the red ones where that circled area is, was a little loose, like it was starting come off.

<a href="http://s306.photobucket.com/albums/nn251/2006pup/?action=view&amp;current=2252011051.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn251/2006pup/2252011051.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

and on this little triangle piece, is one of the ones that always comes off, sometimes 2 sides at a time come off!

Hard to be leave... But, if you are having problems with the lines.
You should change all that read hoses, they are smooth, and won't hold much,
I used some blue ones a couple of months but changed them with regulars ones,
If you put some black ones, try using smaller ones to make sure they will stay on place.

Are you sure they're even hooked up correctly? haha

yea Im sure becuase when I first replaced them all it was hell LOL I spent so much time on here looking up the right routes and making sure I hooked all of them right!

Ok, what's the compression?

hmm give me a sec while I get the numbers

Wow, Hard to be leave, lines coming loose from a stock engine, (7psi)?..
I have run 22psi with no problems.
Wondering what type of hoses you are using!!!

yea it has to be boosting 7psi becuase my set up is entirely stock. all vacuum hoses hooked up in stock routes and no boost controller so yea it should be pushing only 7psi and nothing more.

The red ones are from Ebay, and the black ones are from auto zone. I bought the red ones first, but like you said they are too smooth and plus they kept falling off. The black ones are from auto zone, which are the ones I replaced the red ones with, but now that I've replaced them, they STILL fall off. I got all the black lines because I was already planning on changing out all the red hoses with the auto zone black ones tomorrow.

Hard to tell from those pics, what do those lines go to? Also you have nothing clamping them on. Zip ties or hose clamps will do wonders at keeping hoses on. Also, I don't think you have vacuum hoses there, most aftermarket hose kits cannot withstand the vacuum an engine puts out. I know of quite a few locals who have problems with the inside of the hoses sucking together because they cannot withstand higher vacuum.

That is strange, I use silicone hoses and got the kit from RRE and each hose was pretty damn tight for each nipple. I boost at stock psi too.

yea I understand what your saying. tomorrow I'll be changing out the reds to blacks, and I also bought zip ties to tightin them down. but still, like I said, the remaing reds have never fallin off, except for the ones behind the intake manifold.

yea? STM sells them vacuum line kits in colors too. you say yours never come off? do you have clamps or zip ties on yours?

I never put zip ties or clamps on them because I never saw another DSMer with any....

Starting to sound like you have a head gasket problem that has been going overlooked.

you really think I have a bad head gasket? I actually have a complete head gasket set kit for it that I never had put on because of all the other problems that would come up and no one ever thought I had a bad head gasket.

I forgot to mention that I used those black spark wire's separators, Holders, clips or what ever you call it, those that you are using in between the red hoses,
You should put them where the nipples are.
You will have some hard time putting in place, But be leave me, (they will stay on place unless they rip off). even when you trying to remove them, (they are a pain in the ### to do it)

They are circled in red, do that to every single end hose that you have, and you will have no more loose lines.

Here is a pic, so you know what I am talking about.

For what you are saying about filling up your reservoir.
Yes it is most likely a head gasket.
But, First you should do a compression test to see what is going on.

Those hoses on the far right on the firewall are the fuel pressure solenoid. Kind of a strange problem you have here, I'd replace ALL of the hoses with just a normal black vacuum hose from any parts store and make sure they fit tight. I went and bought 10 feet once just to redo all of my lines and it worked perfectly.

oh ok I see what you mean, Ill do that too. Thanks for the input.
no is 180 ok on compression?

I'm still thinking what can cause my car to jerk back and forth on boost like that. If its not another bad fuel injector, I'm thinking a bad MAF or maybe bad O2 housing? or can the radiator AND jerking issue both be from bad headgasket?
