Ok well i'm ready for some more power to my dsm. I just ordered from slow my titanium manley valve springs retainers and locks. also i have now arp head studs and cometic head gasket. I also am using BC 272 cams.

Now i'm having the head completely cleaned ported and polished and a 3 angle valve job.

My questions to you guys is how much should i have everything ported if anyone has ever done this, and how much power gain should i look forward to. And i was told that i should be able to rev to 8500 comfortably.

I am going to be using a base keydiver retune for my new setup. I am also using stock cam gears. Also i'm running on stock bottom end

What turbo are you on? Revving to 8500rpm isn't going to do much if your turbo is already running out of breath before that....

it really depends on what your building it for. if your looking for just a decent street performer than a good port-match and cleanup will be good. if your running some serious boost though that puppy at high rpm's than your goin to have to hog them out pretty big. it really depends on your goal. the bigger the ports the higher the airlow but the less velocity it will have, and you will sacrifice your low rpm power.

I'm running an evo iii 16g at 18psi right now. Looking to go no higher than 24 psi on this turbo until my bottom end rebuild hopefully by the summer. Which then i'll have a bigger turbo too. Do you think my turbo is outta breath already or higher rpm is good for the 16g? I'. hoping to make a good 330 to the wheels. Hoping to run low 12s whatever power that will take

that 16g should be able to take that.. you may even want to look at a ball bearing garret or something, as well..

Maybe, like, a 20g? that for SURE would make rude power up top

Your head will be able to handle it but I would not take a 16g to 8500rpm. Especially on a stock 7 bolt knowing have fragile they can be at upper power levels. There is no certain "spec" to port and polish too. I would say at this point your setup doesn't require it but it doesn't hurt. You will want to make sure that the place that is doing it can flow test the head to ensure they are doing a good job. If they are just enlarging the ports and not paying any attention then I would suggest taking to elsewhere.

12s are possible with a 16g, so is 330hp. the 16g is good for the rpm you are goining to want to run. i wouldnt go spinning that thing up to 8500 with the stock bottom end. As far as porting just port match everything and polish out all the casting flash. that should be good for a long time.

So i got my cams out of my car and i was noticing something.. I noticed the cams i have (bc 272s) are for a 1g. But i was told that everything from a 1g head to a 2g head was interchangable. But on the one side of the intake cam where the CAS threads into the cam the cam doesnt have threads? Do i have to use a 1g CAS when using 1g cams in a 2g head?
