Hey guys, I'm having trouble with my 99 gst.
When I was driving home from school my car backfired and started bogging down on me. I started hearing a loud intake sound under the hood. I pulled onto a street a mile from my house and it finally just took a crap on me. So I started it after waiting like a minute and was running like crap with a little black smoke coming from the exhaust. I tried turning around and got about half way until it died again. I asked a guy who was outside to help me push it to the side of the street. So he helped but he had to leave. When I started it again the rpm shot up to about 3500 then came down to about 1500 but it was sputtering really bad. I called my friends and we pushed the car by hand( cold/snowy weather) back to my house. I find out the next day that my intercooler pipe got disconnected ( passenger side on the bottom) . Now the really bad part is that my gas pedal has ALOT of play in it and is almost impossible to press down when it hits the ball on the throttle cable which is sticking out of the hole in the arm of the pedal. Sticks out about an 1.5 inches. I took of the cruise control box cover and it looks fine but can only spin the wheel a little before it stops. I tried sliding the bracket on the intake manifold but I don't know where it should be. And sorry for the long post I just wanted to get the most detail I can in here. I've searched google and could find anything. Any help would be appreciated

Have someone push the gas pedal down while you watch the cable up by the throttle body. It should be easy to just mess with it and adjust it until the pedal feels ok again. I have done it before. That Bracket you were adjusting was the right spot.

Just make sure when you start the car to test it out to be ready to shut the car off right away. Sometimes you can make it too tight and the rpm will climb right when you start it.

There isn't much science to the gas pedal assembly. Lol. You will figure it out.
